i've got an '07 x2 and I'm looking for the best way to hook up a mic to talk to riders/yell idiots on jet skis/talk crap to my buddies I'm near on the water (could be helpful for some constructive criticism... :D suggestions? I would like to be able to do it w/o stopping a cd or unhooking an ipod from my auxillary port

I found that sign language works for me for idiot jet ski riders. They get the point each and every time.

Maybe R & D can start working on a system like that as std. equipment and then they can do away with the bilge pumps and make them optional equipment.

Much like the fire extinguisher, http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=21819

the only option I can think of would be to install a cb radio that has that feature and install the speaker up with the tower speakers for the stereo....my way of telling jet ski riders how stupid they are is drive as fast as you can straight at them... they move/leave real quick.

Check out the ThunderPower 1000 megaphone, this sucker comes with a shoulder strap, laser beams and photon torpedos!!! Well not the last two but this baby is big. That should do the trick!!!

my boat is still shrink wrapped until the weather stabilizes a little more... i've been thinking on this for a few minutes now... but would a microphone plugged into the auxilary port work... I'd have to change the input each time I wanted to talk but... ?

Stereo speakers do not handle mic signals very well. I think the megaphone is your best bet if you really want to make yourself heard.

Try this link.

It's for a USCG approved ski vest that has a two-way radio built into the vest. I thought it was a pretty cool idea. I saw it in the Overton's catalogue for $120.

You can install an equalizer, mount it under the driver side dash, and some new ones have a PA Mic. Works well!

We used a Infinity amp that was hooked up to the tower speakers and had a PA system as an option. I believe the part number is 6100M. They are difficult to come by without buying the Infinity Speakers. They have been out for a couple of years.

The other option is from Bazooka. It is a MPA1000. The link to Bazooka's site is here: http://www.sasbazooka.com/product_feature.asp?id=355&pg=2

I ordered one last year but it has still not shipped. I have been told by Crutchfield that they are supposed to be available mid March.

It has been a great teaching aid but can be annoying to those on the lake or the rider if it is being used indiscriminatly.

That's exactly what I'm after! No, I tend to have a pretty continuous flow of new riders coming through my boat on the weekends (I do more drinking and sitting in the boat and watching the scenery on the weekends than anything) It would be a great teaching tool I think to help people learn. I would also like to run off jet skiers/TOOBERS from our favorite "spots" when we're out riding trying to get some work done.

Just had one of these show up at the dealership to install on a new X-15. Looks pretty cool, I will try to give you an update when it is functional!
