I now have an 85 S&S i am selling it to get a more wake board specific boat. I used to only enjoy skiing but i am getting addicted to wake boarding. For a boat to do both would you recommend a prostar or x star? I also have a family so I guess that should be thrown into the picture as well. Thank for the imput

From what I understand the X-14/214 is good for both.

The Star won't be a good ski boat, but it's a great wake boat!! I suggest the x-14, x-9, or 205v!!

Are you thinking new or used? If used, what price range are you in?

x14's are nice!!!
my boat came from an newx14 owner. he likes it but he says he lost storage due to the ballast tanks!!!! but it sure is a pretty thang!!!

Not sure if your budget will allow you to afford an 214/X14. The Prostar205v/X-Star/X2/X1 is a great wakeboarding hull and a skis ok, great for a v-drive actually. There is a thread around here with info about the year and model changes.

While nothing will ski like your 85 Stars and Stripes, but IMO the X2 is a great combo boat that leans toward wakeboarding when weighted.

205 DD fits your bill. Or the first XStar which was DD.

205 or 209 direct drive more slalom friendly

205V or 1st generation X-star v-drive more wakeboard friendly and more interior space.

Every boat is a compromise, just have to set your priorities.

I was looking for the same thing and bought an X1 in 2007. it is the 205V hull and has a great wake for boarding, good for skiing ( great faster than 32) and lots of room for the money even with the ballast

X9 will be more of a wakeboat and X14 will be more of a ski boat.
I have an X9 and am not impressed with the ski wake, but the wakeboard wake is awesome. But my cousin has an X14 and that is a SUPER cool boat.
