All speculation, but he fell in his house and was hospitalized at the end of last month... perhaps there were complications.

I could find that he was in and out of hospitals, but couldn't find why anywhere.

Just stumbled across an article... Boyd passed away about 200 yards from me! I am currently doing a remodel at the hospital he passed away at and was in my trailer around the time he passed away this morning! Just found it ironic!

One of my inspirations for building show cars in the 80's... He was definitely a character and his skill will be missed.

Remember Cadzilla? Now that was a fine piece of work.

Others closer to him can confirm but believe it or not, the boyd we saw on that show was quite mellowed compared to the "old days"

I think when this show came out it seems like they were trying to act like the guys on American Chopper.

I used to love his hot rod car show, cannot remember the name of it, but he had the SOB shop manager that was a real d..k. What did he die from?
Rest in peace Boyd...

A one of a kind artist in the art of car-crafting.

He will be missed by many.

In this one it says he had emergency surgery in the last month, but not known if that was related to the cause of death. I guess nobody is talking yet as to what happened.

I think when this show came out it seems like they were trying to act like the guys on American Chopper.A worthy thing to aspire to...emulating the Teutuls' success. When they started, Paulie was just a punk kid who wouldn't drag his butt out of bed in the morning and they worked out of a mom n' pop shop. I happened to see their latest AC episode, where Paulie and some other guy brought some parts up to be painted in the Orange County Choppers helicopter.

(there's more to that story, I know, but I think the whole OCC phenomenon is interesting...)

The past few years Boyd C. wasn't looking like he was in the greastest of health, but he was a car crazy master mind....

Parts falling off the OCC Chopper might be a little worse than the parts that fall off of their bikes, so I've heard. ;)

Prayers to his family. Seems young with the miracles of medicine we have now.
I have always found him a bit narcisistic and felt bad for the young talent who really were building the cars in later years. Boyd was a master in creation and obviously business and does deserve, albeit his attitude, respect.

Here is my all-time favorite boyd creation (if not my favorite car creation ever):

Boyd Coddington, a renowned Southern California hot rod and custom car designer and builder who starred in the cable reality-TV series "American Hot Rod," has died. He was 63.

Coddington, a longtime diabetic, died Wednesday at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier of complications stemming from a recent surgery, said publicist Brad Fanshaw.
