Just wondering if we're planning a 43rd Annual Minocqua Mayhem gathering this year. I mean, it's getting close

Perhaps this will help bring back some positive memories :D (http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=14223&highlight=minoqua)

How about...

Jun 21-22
July 26-27
Aug 2-3
Aug 9-10

Just throwing out dates to see what works. Personally, I like July 26-27. It would be nice to get a date that sticks every year....something that we could say 'Minocqua Mayhem is held the last weekend in July every year.' That way, everyone knows the date and can plan for it.

I like Ryan's idea about having it the same weekend every year... However, this year I might have to go against the flow. I vote for the earlier the better. Pretty much anytime in June would work for us, after that it's hit and miss. My wife is working on our first child, so anytime around or after August 6th. I'll be playing Dad and not able to travel. With that said, I'm crossing my fingers that earlier this year works better for most other's too! Cuz I'd be sad if I had to miss it this year! Last year was the best time we had on the water! Met some awesome folks! Made a few friends and had a Blast!

Cheers Everyone!

Some people may not care, but it does take the water a little while to warm up this far north. With that said, I don't care when it is. The last weekend in July worked good last year, but I am totally flexible

Based on the various dates of Regionals and Nationals it looks like June 21-22 and Aug 9-10 are left. Given Chris's comment about the earlier the better, it would look like the June date has potential. Anyone else want to toss out other dates? June 21-22 is open for us right now.

I am down for whatever. My issue with earlier in the Summer is that we are still really busy at work....so getting a day off may not be possible. I could have taken Saturday off last year(end of july), but my bosses were in Las Vegas for the weekend. The later in the Summer is best for me......but I will do my best to make anything work. I think we should have ERK pick the dates as he will be bringing the fly-azz boats:cool: . The other two weekends that I know will not work for me are the weekend before and after July 4th. I know the wood boat show is the last weekend in July. I am not sure if that really affected anything like lodging, etc..

There is a small lake that is part of the Minocqua Chain that does not see a lot of traffic. It is called Little Lake Tomahawk and it is about a 30 minute boat ride from downtown Minocqua. According to my boss it is a great place to ski when the chain gets too busy. I was not aware that you could get an inboard in the lake, but my boss has taken his 197 in there with no issues:cool:

I'd like to bring her and there is no better way that I would like to spend our anniversary then on the water...however, we have plans the 21st of June. I personally would rather skip the concert we're going to and spend the weekend on the water with you guys. I even asked, but she's playing it off as if she doesn't care if I go or not, but I can feel the pain as my nuts are ripped from my body if I don't follow through on the plans that we have.

So for the sake of my...ummm....junk, is there another date that could work?

Anyways, do we have a head count on who is coming? Or thinking about coming? Let's get that together.

Datdude, what's the count from last year? Let's get last years names together...Find out who's in, who's out, who's MIA, and who are the new folk we need to break in! It was a blast last year and I'd hate to miss it this year.

Just a thought...what about planning two weekends? Everyone could pick their weekend. We know who's who because there will be MC floating around. Minocqua was a great place because everyone could get to it. Beautiful country up there. Great body of water that I would otherwise not get a chance to ski.

That's the weekend I'll be up there. Matty B and I will be up there for sure. The girlfriend and daughter may be up there as well. We'll be taking off work Friday afternoon, driving up that day, and camping in Datdude's yard for the weekend. I'll be on the water Saturday and Sunday. If anyone would like to join me and a few friends, let me know.

If you can make it, GREAT! Otherwise, if you have to miss it, that's OK too. I'll be pulling my boat up and will definitely have some room in the boat if someone wants to foot, ski, wakeboard, trick, wake surf, etc, etc.

I don't remember it being that bad. Seriously, there was a lot of activity mid-day, but for the most part, I thought it was relatively skiable most of the time. I guess one gets use to that kind of activity on the weekends.

And thanks for the complements. I enjoy barefooting...and sometimes you have to do it when the water isn't that desireable. It would be nice to do it on calm, flat, water all the time, but I don't have access to that kind of goodness! So I guess you do it when there is a few rollers by the wally's....

Its all what we are used to. I ski up on the frozen tundra, so I am the only boat on the cove 90% of the time. so you get spoiled with calm water.

Jclose, I still have not confirmed that we will make it for Aug 1-3, but we will definately be there for our annual week long trip Aug 16th to Aug 22nd.

In fact, that may be one of the reasons I might not make the trip in the beginning of the month. With gas prices where they are, two 5 hour tows in the same month seems like it may be too much. We have rented the same cabin up there for the 3rd week in August for about 7 years now, and it is a wonderful family trip to end the summer on.

I would be ALOT more interested if we can get some calm water. as I said before, I had a VERY fun time hangin out and socializing last year. watching wakesurfing, boating, seeing the area, going to dinner, etc.... but the skiing SUCKED. that was the worst water ever for watersports. IF I come down this year, I might just leave my Ski home unless we know a better spot to ski. I would be willing to make the drive down just to visit you people. Eric, Datdude, Ryan, Rock, Deb, Corey, all you guys are great to hang out on the water with and just great company. but the choppy water conditions and craziness/business in those lakes just isnt conducive to good skiing/footin.

Eric, Datdude, Ryan, Rock, Deb, Corey, all you guys are great to hang out on the water with and just great company. but the choppy water conditions and craziness/business in those lakes just isnt conducive to good skiing/footin.

UMP... It is a fact of life that popular lakes get busy and get rough in the afternoon. I was there last year, and lake Kawasaga (sp?) was VERY nice in the mornings. In the evening, Lake Tomahawk (which is the lake furthest from town) was empty except for fisherman. Even Lake Minocqua, right in front of the beach/park was absolutely glass the last morning I was there (until some obnoxious jackass in an x-15 started tearing it up:D:D:D:D) There is PLENTY of good water, just not all day long.

On another note... how about a trip to Michigammee for a weekend? We have 3 different boats from Marquette that would be in for a camping weekend. Get a L'anse/Baraga/Houghton crew together and lets make it happen!

Not nearly the post activity we had last year. :(

I think I am going to have to bypass the trip since we will be up there a few weeks later for our annual week in the cottage. I hope that a few people still get together since that was sooooo much fun last year. Either way, we need to do it again in 2009. I will try to connect with you later in August when we are up that way DatDude. Maybe we can connect for a cold one or something.

Anyone who will be up next week I'll be at the Thirsty Whale on Saturday night.

August 1, 2 & 3

This thread has been dead, so I am not sure if anyone will be there, but if so, I hope you all have a great time. My family and I will be up for a week in about 3 weeks, so we decided not to go up for the weekend right now. If you guys get together post some pictures for those of us who were not able to join in this year.

I'll be up on Saturday, but boat will be staying at my lake as I haven't been there since the 4th of July.

Well if anyone is in Minocqua from August 16 to August 23 we are heading up to our annual week at the cabin. I will be driving my Red 2004 197, so if you see me out there be sure to say Hi! Plan to hook up with DatDude for a beer for sure, maybe other board members will be around too.

If all goes well, we may stop in Crandon on the way home next week just to see some of the footin action.:D
