View Full Version : Enough Alt for Dual Batteries???

i'm putting in a dual battery system in my 04 X2. i've read a lot threads on it and i'm going with the relay as "diesel" uses. i'm going with a deep cycle battery for the second battery. for the radio i run a xmd3 w/8 speakers & 1 sub thru a apx-400.4m and apx-200.2m amps...the radio should be the only real draw on the system while the boat is off of course. i originally planned on upgrading the alternator thinking i had the 52 amp model...but after looking at it says 70amps on it. Think this is enough for for my setup? i know more amps is always better but if 70 is going to work ok i'd rather just leave it alone.

I would certainly run what you have and see how it works out before you fork over the $$ for a new alternator. I think you will be fine.

that's good, that's what i figured too...but also i don't want to fry the thing either and have boat down during the summer.
if it doesn't work what will i see....under charged batts...or a cooked alt??? .....or both for that fact i guess
thanks diesel
