Does anybody know what size and how many psi the gas shock is for a 98 Sportstar? It's the one that lifts the whole seat not just the back rest. I assume it is the shock used in the Prostar as well. It's a closed bow also. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Not sure if this applies... but Mine was a 30lb. shock. and it couldn't hold up the seat on it's own. Turns out there was a recall (or a swap rather) that replaced it with a 45lb. 2002 Prostar197.

Do you happen to know the length of it?

A MC dealer can get it for you. Alternatively, you can pop it off and run it to NAPA and they'll match it. In my experience, the MC dealer has been the less expensive route when it came to gas shocks, but your mileage may vary.

Found the size:

The engine cover is SPD-5150-30A and the Storage hatch is SPD-5300-30A

I have never dealt with the guys at BAWS until today. I have to say they were first class all the way. For only a $12 part they sure went out of their way to help me and ship it out today. I highly recommend them to anyone who ever needs help. Thanks again guys!
