Unless you want to pay sales tax on the whole price of the 40th, why not get the dealer to take yours in trade for say around $60K? It's always easier for a dealer to sell a high-dollar trade than it would be for you to sell it. (used boat loan)

Maybe you had not heard about an in-out. I have a Dealer that will help with arranging all the financing and title work

^^That's good, glad to hear you have a dealer willing to work with you. (I call that a "paper trade", an in-out means something totally different to me :) )

A "paper trade" in MN wouldn't be as beneficial for the buyer as you don't have to pay sales tax on a used boat if you buy it from a private party.

No sales tax on private party purchases in MN???? Well, this one WI boy who's going to look for next boat and/or car across the line. Good info! We pay taxes on everything in WI, at least twice.

"citizen's arrest...citizen"s arrest!" (from the Andy Griffith Show where Gomer makes Barney write himself a ticket after an illegal u-turn). great one njskier. your quote reminds me of Clockwork Orange. i love good humor and that one got my day off to a good start.

just be aware if you buy a car from out of state you are not covered by either states lemon law if something goes wrong...I bought a brand new 08 Nissan Titan in SC and we live in NC and have one major lemon on my hands and Nissan refuses to buy it back their mediator says we're not here for customer service because the customer isn't happy with their vehicle. It's been in the shop 5 times for the tires out of balance and now they refuse to balance them or replace them

If you were in Pa. the used buyer still pays the Sales Tax. They won't give you a boat registration # or Sticker w/o proof of payment of sales tax.

I think I may start a raffle. 660 tickets @ $100 ea. or 1320 tickets @ $50 send all proceeds to my boat dealer and they'll put it in escrow, hope jimmy doesn't mind. Maybe someone can figure out how to deliver the raffle tickets.
