Does anyone else love riding the old skis? We are starting to get a good collection of Hydro-Flite skis togather. If you know anyone that has some and is thinking of getting rid of them let me know! :wavey:

I ride these bad boys as much as i ride my slalom. (they are about 6 feet long! )

I used to ride my old wooden guy a bit more. When I got the Maherajah GS, it became my main alternate. The old woodie just gets used for instruction at this point.

Man those are pretty. Here's a shot of mine. It's the big one. The other one has no name.

I have couple of pair that are fun to ride as two. One has a ring on the tail that shoots up a roster tail of water.Isn't it funny how those old white/off white bindings feel like nothing now!

I have an old foil (http://airjunky.com/temp/old%20foil.jpg) from the 1960s.

I believe their the old Dynaflite Hydrofoils (http://airjunky.com/temp/foilskis.jpg) by City Engineering in Indiana.

They were riden in a whiskey ad (http://airjunky.com/temp/ccfoilad2.jpg) back in the 70s

If you ever get a chance to go to Wiley's Ski Shop in Seattle, their walls & ceiling are covered with tons of old skis, boards, etc.

had an old rijo nancy rideout model woodie that i finally got rid of last summer. tail rotted out. liked the ski and did not seem to throw as much water in my face while crusing as my kd3000 does. but..., does not have performance of kd either.

AirJunky, great ads. Where'd did you find those old foils?

Various places, Doug. The old foil I have I found under a deck at a friend's house on Sammamish...... where almost every ski company under the sun has done tons of R&D work over the years. I expect someone from HO or O'Brien was playing with them years ago as they used this house way back when.

The whiskey ad I ran into on Ebay for $5. As it turns out the guy is someone I know too. Rick Ralos used to run a company called SunSport making ropes, vests, etc. out of Bellevue, WA. He & his wife were asked to do that ad while they were in Greece. I guess they were practicing somewhere in Seattle & couldn't figure out how to ride the damn things. So they called Mike Murphy, developer of the Air Chair & Sky Ski, and someone who used to ride the old standup foils a lot: http://airjunky.com/history
Mike set them up & they ended up getting the ad shots.

The old Dynaflite ad came from a guy in Florida who told me he used to work with City Engineering in Indiana years prior. He had horded 10 sets of these foils & kept them in storage. I ended up arranging the sale of 4 sets for him to various people..... including Murphy!
