I have this picture, but it is very dark. Can I help you in some way? What are you looking for/trying to figure out?

Sodar,

No help required. I just wanted to get an image of what my skiis would look like in the $1500 MC ski racks I'm about to buy...(yeah that was apprehension in my voice)

Relax! They are awesome and look better than any system I have seen. Do the new mini towers have the swivel racks?

$1500 for a set of racks? :eek3: That is insane. It absolutely amazes me at how expensive tower accessories are. Not like there is a whole lot to most of them. Especially the racks.

Look at the detail in machining and mechanism in the racks. The price seems quite reasonable. Ric has made some of the slalom extender arms for the racks and his costs alone were in the $200 range....

The detail in the machining is all done on a CNC machine. Sure a one off is going to be expensive but after you have the initial program setup running duplicates gets less expensive with each one made. All of the racks I have seen can't have any more than a couple of hundered in materials.

I thought about getting the ski racks. Then I saw the price. That pretty much ended that. Then I saw a picture of them on a 197 like mine. That really ended it. No doubt they are practical but ouch, they're kinda big and out of proportion for the boat IMHO.

No offense intended to anyone who has them.

I've got them on my 2005 that is for sale and I love them. They do take a bot of getting used to, however, it is great to have a place other than the floor or back locker to put your ski. If you've ever had a rope recoil back into the boat when your ski is sitting on the floor behind the driver only to be followed by the rope wrapping around it and tossing it out of the boat, but not before putting the tail through the rear speaker cover.....then you understand what I am talking about.

YES, they are expensive...are they worth the expense, that is up to you to decide, but the functionality of them is great and you will be happy with them.

A $1500 rack is pretty good. Most plastic surgeons are charging well over $3000

Guys,

1. I need some more pics. Moleson's got me worried.

2. I'm not sure yet if the swivel racks are available for the '08 mini tower.

I personally like the racks and the look of them... Not an '08, but the size of the tower is comprable to show the size of the racks.

Yes, 08 re-designed mini tower has swiveling racks. Are you looking for pics of an 08 or the previous generation? I've got a few of each here that I can snap a few pics of... Let me know...

I also have a MasterCraft tower and did not want to spend the $$$ to get the ski rack made for the tower by MC. I found this one for skis from New Dimension Towers. It works great for 2 skis. I have a wakeboard rack on the other side. It was a lot less than the MC rack. It did require that I drill a couple holes in the mounting plate. Works great. Sorry I don't have a pic with skis in it.

Here's a pic of how it is mounted to the plate from the back side.

I think this is the only one I have. It was on my 2003.

Trent,
I just bought a 2003 x-30 it has one slalom ski rack and one wake board rack. I want them to match. The slalom rack is easier for my kids to use than the old wakeboard racks with the screw release on top.
Where did you find the slalom rack for sale @ $1500. I cannot find one anywhere, at any price.

Anybody out there got a used slalom rack they will sell? to me or Trent.
Anybody got a pair Clarion tower speaker cans?

I also have a 1977 mastercraft, anybody got an old Airguide Speedometer? working or not.

Thanks
Andy

I took one of the wakeboard racks on my '02 PS 197 and converted it to a slalom rack. I simply took the two fingers off that hold the board, made a new aluminum plate that is 28" long, and then re-installed the fingers at the end of this plate to allow the slalom ski and bindings to fit inside. I can get these made at work on our CNC machine. Of course, I won't put all of the pretty little details on it like one you'd buy for hundreds of dollars. If anyone's interested, shoot me a line and I can get a price out.

1500 dollars is what it would have cost me to get a pair of racks from MC when I ordered my boat.
