I don't want to break any rules by posting this link, but it has some interesting info about the MC hull.

PATENT: 5046439 (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO2&Sect2=HITOFF&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsearch-adv.htm&r=98&f=G&l=50&d=PTXT&s1=mastercraft&p=2&OS=mastercraft&RS=mastercraft)

Interesting, but didn't strike me as particularly ground breaking for this day and age. Then I saw the 1989 date. Makes perfect sense. Cool.

By the date, descriptions and drawings, that should be the patent for the new hull design for the 1991 ProStar 190 introduced into the market at the Dealer Meeting on July 11, 1990

If you look at the pictures attached to the patent, I believe it's for the Maristar 210? 240?

Your are right, as all I could view was the bottom drawing. I just found the other drawings in the legend on the left side. MariStar for sure. From my Star magazines and the 1988, 1989 and 1990 brochures it appears to be the 1989 MariStar 240, 240SC, introduced at the 1988 Dealer meeting at Lake Tahoe in late July, 1988.

As always, Google is better than the USPO.....

Thanks Leroy!
Yep, this pretty much said it all, "The hull of claim 1, wherein for an approximately 24 ft. boat".

This site will give you images of the actual patent: http://www.pat2pdf.org/

I did some searches in the past, and it appears that most ski-boat related patents are owned by some other company (that begins with the letters "CC" ).

Also mentions 3 specific pairs of strakes.

Thanks for posting this. This appears to be the patent for our Maristar 240 Hull!

I see the patent mentions the 351 engine. However, ours came with the Indmar 454-400 HO big block.

Hand rail placement, swim platform and strakes match those on our boat to a T.

Thanks.

This hull patent IS the Maristar 210, 240 and 240SC produced 1989-92.

I have a 1990 240 (open bow). It has the same hull strakes sans skeg, described in the document as well as large diminsions, 24' 10" LOD, 96" beam.

Apparently the wake was to much for a 90's slalom tow boat. We surf behind ours with just a full tank of gas.

Thanks for sharing
