It was out in 'o7. Don't know how many MC has actually built. The option is something in the range of $30k.:eek3: Kind of makes it cost prohibitive.

Ya way to much extra cash and I do not understand why that is, the website for the engine is http://www.vw-m.de/index.php?id=444&L=1

If they would sell the engines I would love to put one in a older prostar.

I'm thinking of swapping the engine on my other boat to this supercharged rotary marine engine. It's got 275hp, gets great milage, and weighs under 300#... They can make them with more hp as well

I have talked with a few people who have experienced the diesel in a MC. All second hand knowledge, but fuel usage with a fully loaded x-star is supposed to be under 10 GPH.

Would be an interesting one to demo, but I wouldn't want it on the lot.....at least not with the current price tag.

Maybe your demo for next year?

It would be a cool Mag Mania boat.

MC.com quotes the diesel as 225hp:( You could buy a lot of gas for $30k! Maybe its meant for Euro markets.

not to mention most inland marinas don't have Diesel at the dock.

Footin, not gonna happen :)

Still have the orange one for sale though.............

$30K extra for a diesel??? So, I guess there's no credit given for the stock gas engine??

C'mon someone needs a reality check here. To upgrade to diesel in a mercedes "M" class SUV is only an extra $1,000 over the gas engine. My freightliner has a 3126 CAT engine which would cost less than $10K to replace the long block.

Besides, right now diesel fuel is .40-.50 cents more per gal. than gas, so there is no benefit to diesel. Unless you run your boat more than 250 hours/year, no reason for diesel. (at least that's what they tell you about large cruisers, and they have twins)

I bet it's an overseas market they are trying to attract. CC did this at one point with the older nautiques. no idea how they sold, and I have never seen onefirst hand, just heard about it.

that really disappoints me...the only reason I would buy a new one would be for the diesel

it is a VW TDI i thought.
i see a fuel problem. there is only one dock on our lake that has diesel. we had a diesel powerd houseboat a fews years back and we had to go 25 miles up the lake and then back to get fuel.
