Well since Mag had the home thread going and it is winter I thought I would share a little home project I got going. It is going to be a cement pool or Gunite as they call it. Salt water with a cook area to boot. Thought I would share the progress. They say 2 weeks and we will be swimming? With the dry suit!

Let me see if he will stand still for a close up. He is a 10 year old chocolate lab that is a member of the family. He is a deep brown on the winter and is named Fudge. Yes my wife named him!!! I wanted "Killer" or "Hunter" or something manly, but after 10 years it seems she had the right name. He is a Fudge!!

That pond is about 2 inches deep and until 4 weeks ago you could walk across the middle of it and not get mud on your feet. Drought baby, drought!

Don't get me wrong I have been drunk nine ways with cut off shorts in it in the middle of the night in that pond signing Waylon songs, I'm just 20 years older now. Don't know about the character but it made me want something with a solid bottom.

Looks pretty nice. Don't you have some code for a fence around it?

Whats the reason for the salt water?

Yeah there was one. I put up a 48" construction fence with conduit for the inspection and then took it down when the gut left. My son can swim like a fish and has had all the survival training but we still watch him closely and he doesn't go in it without some one with him. I don't have any neighbeors for 2 miles in any direction so that is not a concern.

It has what is called a generator that creates cholrine from the salt. It is real subtle and you hardly notice it. It is 3200 parts per million where the ocean is like 80,000 parts per million. That pool was filled up with water in february and that picture was ffrom today and we have not put one thing in it. It is light years better than chlorine.
