Has anyone ever tried to make a new back seat so that they could put ballast under the seat of a 92-96 205. I was thinking of doing something like the X7 or X9.

If you come up with something please let me know.

My solution may come from my retired wood working father in-law. I thought that mabe you could make a four legged wooden bench then put padding and vinyl on it. I don't know if there is enough hight in the boat to get away with that or not. You could probably get 3 to 4 hundred pounds under that.

How much room is there under your back seat? Could you install a flat-rectangular plastic tank like from an RV supplier? Those RV tanks come in some different sizes.

Some time ago, there was a picture on here where someone had put small water tanks in the under seat storage pockets. I can't imagine that that would be enough weight to make a difference. You could use a fat seat. Alternatively, you could build a seat base from a water tank, but that would require that you separate the seat back from the base. Not exactly any easy solutions here other than the fat seat.

I'm looking to do the same thing with my 96 PS205. Been considering Fly High tube sac that is 10"h x 16"w x 62"l (+/-400lbs) or fat seat which is 12"h x 26"w x 62"l (+/-600lbs). Still not sure how to build base for seat to enclose the ballast. Let me know what you come up with.

I searched high and low for answers to this question last year. You'll need to join the forums to see the pictures, but here's what one guy did.

http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=41457&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=35

There were also pics of a simple box that a guy made and put a foam pad that he covered with vinyl. But that forum closed down and I didn't save the pics.

You've also got the option of doing what that guy did with the sunpad. Send me your e-mail and I will fwd what Eastie sent me.

In the end, I don't think the 205 has the depth to have a seat and a ballast bag underneath it, unless the seat back is above the hull line. You can do the sunpad option, but its nice to have that seating back there. I just gave up and keep the fat sac between the engine compartment and the rear seat.

I hope you find out a solution and let us all know, good luck!

I had made some plans to have a plastic tank company build a custom size tank the size of the rear seat. kind of like the pic. Cost was going to be about $500.00 then it would need to be covered with foam and vinyl. Probably glued on.

I did end up makeing a wood box and covering it. It made a sun pad like above, but had a front, and we used a single bed size water bed matteress in it. Thru a huge wake. ( dont have pictures of it.) I have since had all upholstery redone, and now use the original seat.
