That's all the info links we have to go by so, other than someone actually going down to the lake and measuring it, and I think the Duke Energy already does that every day automatically for us.

I can't speak for the Lake Wylie area around Charlotte, but we got .6" rain Sunday night, .75" last night and they are forecasting Heavy to Severe Thunderstorms across NC with as much as 3" of additional rain for tomorrow afternoon ahead of a cool front. Our ditches are full of water around here and our lake is up another 8" to just a little over 1' low, so it's really looking better for the time being!

Yikes! Be careful Brian!

I got home and saw on the news that the roof was blown off of a convenience store across the street from my office. I had stopped in there about 15 minutes before it happened to grab a Coke for the ride home. I then got into some of the worst weather ever driving the bridge home. By the time I got off they had closed it in both directions. At one point the wind had to be blowing at 70mph and the rain was coming down in sheets. That was about 14 miles in on a 24 mile long bridge. The last 10 miles were SLOW going.

Guess it was my lucky day. Weather is fine today but cold again

I don't understand how it can rain .7" and the lake level only rise .1"! I guess, it's evaporsaturation!

From the wylie site;)

Lake levels are a relative measure, not the actual depth of the lake. Lake levels tells us the difference between the current level of the lake and full pond. We consider full pond the point at which the water begins to spill over the flood gate or spillway. For the purposes of lake levels, we call this level 100.0 feet.

Lake levels are updated about every twenty minutes.
Lake levels are measured at the hydrostation dam.
Levels are expressed in feet in relation to full pond, where full pond is 100.0 feet.
Full pond elevation is equivalent to the top of the flood gates at gated impoundments and the top of the open spillway at lakes that do not have gates.
Lake levels fluctuate daily and seasonally due to hydroelectric generation and weather conditions. Lake levels may vary within the normal operating range, and the normal minimum or maximum elevation may occur at any time during the identified month. Lake levels may vary depending on your location on the reservoir.

Don't even get me started about the politics that are involved with the water situation on Lanier. It has been mismanaged for years and the City of Atlanta is the cause of the mismanagement IMO. Don't even get me started about the politics that are involved with the water situation on Lanier. It has been mismanaged for years and the City of Atlanta is the cause of the mismanagement IMO. Too much stuff to talk about that has happened over the last 10-15 years. It gets my blood pressure up. I think I will have to have a drink:D :D

I hear you. I don't know all the history, but I struggle to believe that Atlanta grew "so fast" that they had "no idea" they'd run out of water. The idea of us going after land that was was possibly mis-surveyed almost 200 years ago seems ludicrous. IMO the strong arm tactic is lame, we should try and work with TN to get some of the much needed water they may be willing to give up.

Not just the growth factor, but the mismanagement of funds. The City wastes more water daily than all of the rest of Metro Atlanta. They have been given money to fix infrastructure and wasted it without fixing a thing. They are/were fined daily for dumping sewage in the river, which causes the flow to have to increase, which helps in the draining of our lake. Strong arm politics with TN isn't going to fix the problem.

[QUOTE=lanier92prostar][QUOTE=TX.X-30 fan]Lake Travis Level
Level (ft) 681.43 (last updated at LCRA: 2/26/2008)
(from http://www.lcra.org/water/conditions/lake.html)
(last checked: 14:15 Tue, Feb 26, 2008.)
The lake is considered full at an elevation of 681.1 msl
There are 270 miles of shoreline around the lake. It has a maximum depth of 210 and an average depth of 62 feet.

TX.X-30,
Is that one of the Texas lakes that was really down 2 years ago and was flooded last summer?

Yes to both, Its a flood control lake as all the highland lakes are. The flood was fairly short lived event, the drought though shut it down from mid-summer on 2 years ago. As long as it doesnt drop more that 40 ft. its good to go.

Georgia needs some water planning HUH???? Saw a show about it that said water system needed major repairs to stop all the leaks, gallon flush toilets and some other stuff that really doesent effect quality of life but save mucho amounts of agua?
