View Full Version : Maristar Hull

New to TMC and looking at getting into my first Mastercraft. I am trying to figure out the hull on a 1998 Maristar 225 VRS. It looks very similar to the 2000 Maristar 223.
I understand the 2000-2005 Maristar 230 is the same as the 2005-2006 X-30.
Is this the same hull as the 1998 225 VRS has?
Any other opinions on the 1998 Maristar 225 VRS? I am looking to wakesurf and wakeboard behind the boat.
Thanks for your help!

I've got the '98 225. Pretty much the same ast the 230 you've referenced....except there are not enough frickin' cupholders in mine. I've had mine for 2 years now, I absolutely love it and don't plan to change boats unless an amazing opportunity presents itself.
There were some nice improvements as the 230 progressed...biggest improvements in my opinion include:
1. Cupholders, cupholders, cupholders
2. 3 piece sundeck
3. Bigger, badder engines
4. Bolster drivers seat
5. Did I mention cupholders?
As far as wakeboarding and wakesurfing go, I've got two 540lb sacs in the trunks and a 440lb sac in the front, makes for a pretty darn nice wake.
Hope this helps! Happy to provide other feedback if you have any specific questions.
I'd say the biggest difference on the 230 is the fact the platform isn't intergrated into the boat so its acually a good 2 feet bigger inside.
The hulls are very similar between the 225 and 230 as when I was looking for a Vdrive boat I looked at both of them.

We love our 225, solid boat, and you are right, NOT ENOUGH FRIGGIN CUPHOLDERS.

I believe 1998 was the last year for the 225 and 1999 was the first year for the 230. As stated before, the 225 is measured including the platform and the 230 is measured not incl. the platform. (the 230 is 22 feet 8 inches LOA) Therefore the 230 is a larger boat with regards to interior space, etc. The 230 remained the same from 1999-2005. I think 2006 was the year the 230 got wider.
I had a 2003 230 and loved it. Drive both first if you have the chance, but either way you can't go wrong buying a Mastercraft!
Welcome to the club!

I believe that 1998 was the first year for the new Maristars; my 200VRS was relabeled as the 210 in the following years. At least for the 200, 98 has a removable teak platform, when the previous years had an integrated fiberglass platform.

Frank is correct, I was going through some old brochers and 1998 was the first year of the "2nd genereration" Maristar hull, 1998-2005.
In 1999 Mastercraft renamed the 200vrs to 210vrs and the 225 to the 230.
1998 was the first year of the removable swim platform in the Maristar.
