Wow, the 17 cupholders blew me away till I read that it burns 49 gallons of gas per hr at 51 mph top speed!

I talked to one of the dealers at the Chicago boat show in Jan. He said they had orders for two at that time. Would be a great boat for bigger water but would be hard to fill the coolers with the rate of fuel burn.

Do some comparisons and you will find this is on par for boats in this size and HP class.

I was in Edmonton at the MC dealer a couple of weeks ago and a customers special ordered X80 had just arrived! It was quite the boat with twin MCX's and fully loaded with all the toys including a triple axle trailer.
The new owner has a place on huge lake in BC that is over a hundred miles long and was driving a Porsche Cayenne so I think gas will be OK!
I would love to go for ride to hear the twin MCX's light it up. :D

Hern Marine here in KY recently sold one. I was in there Saturday and a salesman was talking about it. I guess the guy bought it to pull his kids in the tube. I hope he has enough power to pull a tube

When I picked my MC up from the deal there was a 2003 Maristar 280 (http://californiaskier.mastercraft.com/mastercraft_inventory.jsp?go=detail&boatid=271655) sitting in the parking lot. The dealer said he’d just taken it as a trade in on a fully loaded twin engine Salt water edition 2005 Maristar 280. Some people have way too much money!!!!!!!!!!

That last post says something more than the fact that some folks have too much money. It says that they were so happy with their '03 they traded up to a new '05. They obviously were happy with it. That is awesome! Way to go MC!

If you look at the >30' to <60' yachts then the 280 is not out of line, but certainly in a niche.

My dealer sold one with the twin crusaders, then ordered another one for stock. I missed seeing it though, went by and the owner had just taken delivery of it.

how much are they? I got to tell you, I'm not really into it, maybe I'm just old fashioned. I'm sure it's a beautiful boat, but just not my style. :twocents:

I think maybe I'm not old enough for a BIG boat, but that urge will come I'm sure.

If I was going to spend 6 figures on a BIG boat, I want something I can cruise to the bahamas in. My Prostar is the perfect boat for me and what my friends and I do. It all depends on your interests I think.
if i had that much money-17 cup holders might not be enough!

I think you are right and as long as my kids love to ski like I do, my interests will stay because I love inboard ski boats (I'm funny like that). But if they don't love the sport like me, then age may change my interests.

Don't get me wrong, I swear by Mastercraft, but they have some other really nice boats in their line that are a lot less than $120K. I agree on inboard boats though, I wouldn't buy anything else. I was interested in Mastercrafts long before waterskiing. I just picked skiing up to go with the boat!! :purplaugh

We have one on our small lake. Owner built the first $1,000,000 house on the lake almost 15 years ago. His son wanted to wakeboard, guess which boat he bought?

I would bet that A LOT of people buy this boat as an ADDITION to their ProStar..... not a replacement for their ski/boarding/tubing boat.
I know quite a few people with a pontoon boat and a tow machine.
(if some one looks at the fuel consumption specs. and this figure affects their decision to buy this boat..... I don't think MC's marketing department has that person in mind a customer).

The figure I was given was 90K with one engine and $100K with two. This is, of course, before they add the cupholders and other amenities. ;)

i think i would prefer a pontoon boat at thousands less.
