View Full Version : What's up with the bimini height?

As I look trough all the pics of boats with towers AND bimini's, it's seems to me that most of the bimini's are mounted much too high for them to keep the driver in the shade all day.
As I use the boat for teaching, I would like to be in the shade, even when the sun drops. With the high bimini's, the sun will shine right underneath.

True or not?

True, but if the bimini is too short it's a pain in the a$$ to get in and out of the drivers seat. Plus, when the boat turns while sitting, you will probably get sun in from the sides.

Mine seems to keep the sun off me pretty well, you'll never be in the shade a 100% of time on a boat. But I think my windows being tinted helps a bunch.

My old one was nice and low. My new one was a custom job by a shop in DFW. It is a little bit higher and has a little more wrap on the sides.

Just wondering, do you have a picture of it? I'd like to see it if you do.

And here's the new one (center bar on the new one isn't extended in the picture).

Mine is the same height as my tower and it does great keeping the desert sun off me at all times of the day.
