View Full Version : Aftermarket oil-bath hub kit?

Does anyone have a recommendation for an aftermarket oil-bath hub kit? I want to convert my '93 trailer to oil-bath hubs and can't decide between the following 2 kits, LiquaLube (http://www.liqualube.com/) or Durahub (http://www.durahub.com/index.html).

Someone on this board recommended the Durahubs and they look pretty good. Most of the hard-core fishing message boards and professional fisherman recommend the LiquaLubes.

The LiquaLubes come with a sleeve for the spindle to make a better seal at the rear. They also require drilling and tapping the front of the hub to attach the plastic cap with a gasket and screws.

The Durahubs only sand the spindle at the rear to improve the seal and have a press fit metal cap on the front similar to a Bearing Buddy.

Everything about the LiquaLubes seems better except the plastic cap, I've read a lot of posts here about cracked plastic caps, but that is with the stock Mastercraft setup.

Anyone have any thoughts?

There is a previous thread on the Duralube conversion somewhere here in TT.

Here is the link to the thread, http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=17466&highlight=bearings

Thanks for the reply, that thread is where I first saw the Durahubs. I was hoping someone here had some experience with the Liqualubes that they could share.
