I've done a search on throttle cables and couldn't find a previous thread on this. Is there a way to increase the drag on the throttle cable just a little so the throttle will stay in place when I let go of it. My slowly returns back to idle. The main reason I want to adjust this, is so I can put the engine at a high idle when it's cold and not have to hold it there. Thank for any input.

Failing that, there's this... (http://skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MOR044386)

Thanks bigmac. I don't know why I couldn't find that when I did a search. Merry Christmas.

I did the same thing on my 1994 Prosport 205 with a hinge, a bolt and a self locking nut (just scrounging around in my junk hardware bin).

I added some black tape to spread out the stress on the cable jacket.

For about a dollar, you can get a less tense return spring (or just stretch the one that's on there). I'd go with option one though. You want some tension (in case your throttle cable snaps), but the spring that comes stock on your motor is practically a brake spring. Just go to the auto parts store and get a bag of assorted springs and see which one works best.

Your throttle return spring on the 351 is located on the port side of the engine just aft of where the throttle cable connects to the throttle plate on the carb.

Can't you push in the button at the pivot point of the throttle lever and move it forward to a higher idle? Boat stays in neutral, How high do you want it to idle?
