L'ville is an OK place to visit. It is just under 3 hours from Nashville.
One cool place to visit would be the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, KY which is just under 2 hours from Louisville.

You lucky so and so, how did you get tics to the Ryder Cup anyway?
I am jealous...
I went to the 2000 US Open at Valhalla, nice layout....you will have a lot of fun. The weather should be fairly warm this time of year, 75-85 F and it could also rain as well.

Here is the scoop on your question. Nashville is 3 1/2 hours from Louisville. If you you speed you can do it in 3 hours. I lived down there a few years back.
In Louisville their are some places of interest. Downtown there is the Louisville Slugger muesum sp? They have a tour of the bats and you can actually have one made with your name in it. Good baseball stuff if you like that. Churchill Downs may be open for the fall meet and they have a muesum as well. Lots of history there.
Partying would be at 4th street. They have several bars in that area as it is located close to the waterfront. Another popular area and probably not as loud would be the Highlands on Bardstown Rd. There you will find Osheas, Molly Malones, Wicks Pizza (best in town), Flanigans, and a few others.
Ceasers is located in IN. A casino that is about a 35 min drive from downtown Louisville.
Nashville has the grand Ole Opry, Second street. Probably not practical to go there while at Ky for the event.
Lake Cumberland is about three hours from Louisville.
I hope this helps.

If you are in the Louisville area you will be about 10-15 min from the golf course.
