A trucking simulation game. Breaker breaker good buddy. Haul loads, buy trucks, make money, get tickets, start companies etc. I found out about this game on another website and decided to give it a try. Only been playing three days and I'm addicted. All text based and you have to rest real time so you have to take time away from it but I still find myself checking the clock to get back to at at optimum times. The site works great from my Treo too so it is alway accessable. Give it a look. If a few her get into it would could eventually start TMC Trucking open only to members here. www.trukz.com (http://www.trukz.com)

cbryan70

apply... man i got to rest for 9 hours! take a loan out and buy the best truck

BrianM
12-11-2007, 10:13 AM
If you are just getting started before you buy your first truck go to banking and take out a $1000 loan then go buy the $6k Volvo. That will get you rolling a little faster with a little better truck.

Also the city supply and demands change every Wed and Sun at midnight. Keep an eye on that to find the best routes.

To join a company look at all the companies click on the one that looks interesting and then hit the apply button.

You can go solo as long as you want and can join a company at anytime (if they accept you). You will get PMs like crazy from companys trying to recruit you.

I think we should start a TMC trucking company and we can all pick up chicks at truckstops and whatnot:cool:

I took out a loan and bought the sweet-azz VOLVO rig with DUBS and a sweet stereo to keep me rockin' down the highway. I found a load of black tar heroin from El Paso to NYC that is paying $48.00 per mile-LOL

It is going to take a while for one of us to be able to start a company. It takes cash. I just left the company I was at and have an ap pending to South East Express. They have a lot of terminals 3 working contracts and some other perks. Should make me a little more money.

I got one company with 50% gas and only 10% commission! Seems to be working out nicely and since they are short hauls, I am always at one of their terminals, which makes fuel even cheaper!

It will allow you to go negative on pocket money. Don't press to hard because tickets are bad. Also keep an eye on gas prices they go under $2 on the road. In the cities it is $2.50+

Not close. I just started on Saturday. Having the long rest requirement is kind of cool. It is a simulation. Also makes it so you really only have to check it once in the morning and once in the evening.

FPs come of every hour on the hour.

The fuel price I saw before I filled up was $1.88. When I got to Dallas, got my money and filled up it was $2.50........OUCH. Lesson learned. I am trying to figure out how to determine where to go and what to haul to make the most money. I need 13 hours of rest to be back to normal so I have some time to figure it out I guess:rolleyes:

I joined a company to get discounts on repairs and fuel until something better comes along. I was reading on the message board where a guy did the comparison of staying solo or joining and in most cases joining a company comes out ahead. You can also make more money when you haul to and from your companies terminals

I think you have to get into a schedule. Pick routes that you can manage easily. Resting doesn't cost you anything, but you don't make any money. Once you build up some cash, you can buy rest.

I've only done this for two days, but I've got $1,300 in the bank, no tickets, no accidents, paid off my $1k loan when I got my $2k link bonus. I'm selecting the highest revenue cargo to carry distances that I can make before I get too tired, then I rest overnight and do another one in the morning...

Any other tips or hints to get me earning $ faster?

OK until we get our own company everyone join South East Express. They always have contracts and also have company benefits of 10% of truck purchase and an additional 10% off of fuel (total fuel assist is 19%) and 12% repair assist. I need to find someone that is not in route right now to apply to his company. I am exhausted (13) and am still 800 miles from my destination which means it will be a long time before I can leave my company and apply to his. I need to know who is not in route....or will be arriving shortly. I will need your screen name so I can let him know who to accept into his company. The company name is Last Chance Transport and they can be found on the last page of the company list. They have $5200 in cash and one terminal in Monterrey Mexico. Whoever applies will be made CEO and the owner will step down and leave the company. I don't need to be CEO, but an executive position would be nice since I have done all of the legwork-LOL:D :D

just have to find the highest price per mile, and preferably set your home town on one leg.

Short routes, high price/mile, no time penalty for fuel/repair at home.

Last night I had a random mechanical failure and didn't stop and fix it, just kept going, took 4 more turns than it should have because of the reduced speed, so also repair and take the hit rather than drive into the ground slowly.

You need the best truck you can possibly afford. That is the trick, and make short runs to build up some cash.

Buying the cheap truck won't allow you to cover enough ground to make any money.

I have two different accounts. the first one I did I bought the flat nose truck that was just under 5k. The second account I did the loan thing and bought the Volvo truck.
I think I screwed up as I am doing long runs now......Chicago to LA.

With the older truck, do short runs.....I like to be able to complete my runs without taking a break from the game.

Usually that means to keep it around 500 miles one way.

BrianM
12-17-2007, 09:20 AM
With a slow truck try to keep runs under 1000 miles. Less is better. Right now there is a fairly nice run of 816 miles KC to NO running Livestock. Pays a $400 bonus. The round tip ends up with $.85 PPM

The big checks are nice but there are a few problems.
1. It takes a long time
2. Shorter routes with bonus pay better PPM
3. Short routes from a terminal or home means you can repair and refuel for less $$ and no fatigue.

Bottom line is it is all about PPM.

I made $3868 since Saturday morning running short high PPM routes and only paid $1.52 a gallon for gas all weekend. How much did you make running that long route?

I ran 2 long routes this weekend. One from Phoenix to Southport and another from Southport to Seattle. I made approximately $2800, without subtracting gas, repairs and quick resets. I am going to stick to the short routes from now on. Driving the same route for a 2300 miles is BORING!

Go under game statistics and then look at cargo statistics. The ones with an astrik pay a bonus.

Here are the shorter money routes for now. These are good until Wed night Thursday morning 12am.

Clothing El Paso to Salt Lake 828 miles $1.23PPM
Livestock KC to NO 816 miles $1.12PPM
Books Dallas to Albuquerque 714 miles $.91PPM
Cotton Toronto to Chicago 539 miles $.80PPM
Cotton ATL to Miami 723 miles $.76PPM

Those PPMs all include the bonus money. If your company has a terminal in one of the destination cities the PPM will go up 10%. Go to the closest city and run that cargo until Wed night.

There is really no reason to press the fatigue over 10 unless doing so will bring you in on time instead of being late or if doing so will enable you to pick up a hot load just before routes change. No matter how much you press there is still only 26 possible turns in a day (including the quick rest). So unless you are 1-2 hours from a deadline you are not gaining anything by running over HOS but you do have a lot to lose.

Setting up to run the El Paso to NOLA run tomorrow AM. Nets $1.13 ppm.

I've been taking a pretty conservative approach to this, which slows down my $$ making capacity, but I don't lose any money...

I did lose $100 today because I was late arriving. Still came out ahead because of the bonus.

I am with SEE too. You have a couple of big benefits.

1. is that they have a lot of contracts. One was just finished up Milk to LA. The PPM on that was $1.32. As soon as that is finished they will bid and get another one. All of these contracts end up being $1.00+ PPM. Again this just adds to the number of high PPM routes.

2. They offer fuel and repair assistance plus they have a fuel purchase benefit which is an additional 10%. So every fuel purchase you make you are saving 20%. The fuel price on screen will show the sale price but when you click on the calculate if you look at that $$ figure and do the math with the number of gallons you will see that the price you actually pay is 20% lower. Repair assistance is 12%

3. Terminals. They have 8 terminals. Every time you haul goods to a terminal city you get a 10% bonus. Every time you are at a terminal you can also fuel and repair for 0 fatigue points. Also any time you are at their headquarters (Jacksonville) you get an additional 25% off fuel and repairs.

4. Truck purchase assistance. If you buy a truck when you are with them your cost is 10% less. You have to have the full amount in your bank to buy but you will immediately get 10% of the cost back in the bank when you make the purchase.

So in my opinion you get lots of benefits for a 7% vig.
I'm thinkin you guys have too much time on your hands. Maybe so. But really I spend maybe 10 minutes total every day on the game. And another 10 minutes each day the routes change figuring out the best routes. Then another 5 minutes a day posting about it here.

Don't waste your time. That had to have been a contract load for Canadian Freightways. That contract is finished. It was also a 4109 mile run. With a slow truck averaging 50mph that would have takenen a minimum of 3.5 days. Besides you can only run contract loads for the company you work for. Looks like you work for SEE. They should have another contract in the next day or so.

So on one of my drivers I have the Freightliner flat nose truck. It actually has served me fairly well but I was wondering what I could get if I sold it and traded it in. If I threw 3k @ it plus the 3,800 it will sell for what can I get, and will it be substantially faster? My other driver I stepped up and bought the 6k truck in the begininng and I am not totally convinced it's better. Advice? What trucks are you guys running?

BrianM
12-21-2007, 12:23 PM
The best you can buy with $6800 is the Volvo. I am running that $6k Volvo. It has been OK but still a little slow. I am going to be buying the $13k KW W900 tomorrow. That should make a world of difference. Top speed is 77mph and it get better mileage and holds 40 gallons more fuel. From there I will add fresh tires and the air filter to increase overall condition (and speed) and get a little better mileage. I will stay with that truck until I can step up into the 2001 Volvo VN660 for $30k.

Most things I have read say to stay in the slower Volvo until you can step up to the KW or the next up International 8100 but I think the KW is the better deal..

You can look at all of the trucks here http://www.trukz.com/trucks_lot.asp

I should be able to do a company start up sometime next week. Chime in here if you are playing regularly and would like to join a TMC Company.

For those that haven't upgraded trucks. Stay in that $6k Volvo until you can afford to buy the $13k Kenworth. The trucks in between those are not really worth the cost.

As for mechanical failures. I have found that if you run any over the top weather speed your chance of a breakdown goes way up.

A really nice short route is gas from Houston to NO. With the bonus it pays $1.93 a mile including the bonus. Only 380 miles.

In order to start a company you can't have any loans out. I need to get the $7k and a little cushion. I should have it ready to go sometime next week.

Absolutely, I will let you know. I just need to make sure we have at least a good core of active drivers willing to come to the TMC company to get us rolling. I will do my best to help y'all make money but we need 30 drivers to start bidding on contract work. Before that it is just smart dispatching and doing the hot load money runs

Wow! Where did you start from? I'll drive that load too!!

BrianM
12-31-2007, 09:20 AM
It is a contract load for SEE. Paper I picked up in Dallas but you can also pick up in St Louis, Monterry, Veracruz and Vancouver. It is a small contract with a lot of people on it but if you can get to one of those cities before all of the loads are done you lock in price.

By the way if you are with a big company with discounts buy a new truck or other items before we start up the TMC company. We won't be able to offer that until we start making some money. So take advantage now and then help build a new company.

I was bummed. I had the money to buy a double trailer endorsement but you have to have a DR of 10. I am at 8 something. Being able to legally haul 5000lbs more would have made that run worth another $1100. Oh well. I have to do a few more runs to get to 10.

Chas

I'm in. ChasW is my driver's name, and I am on the SF to LA run right now. Or, I guess I am resting right now, but I will be back on the road in 50 minutes.

Should we start one driver as a team effort - post the name and password so we can take turns playing as that driver?

Groovy!

If I beef up the Volvo would that be the way to go or should I sell and upgrade? I mean, if you add stuff like injectors etc... can you get more top end speed? Mines max'd out at 56 now......

I wouldn't (and didn't) upgrade that truck. Save your money and/or take out the loans to help and buy the '97 KW. With the SEE discount it is $11,900. Make sure you repair your truck first so you get the most money for it and try and sell it with almost no feul in the tank.

The '97 KW is a great truck. I added fresh tires, air filter, fuel injectors and now fog lights. With that setup I have an 83 mph top speed which is more than fast enough a 100% max truck condition and am getting over 7.3 mpg. The tires and the fog lights also help raise max speed in bad weather.
