Changing the Impeller

I think I could have trained monkeys to play the violin easier than changing out that $%&* impeller. That pole gets in the way. plus the thing was in there solid. Destroyed it trying to pull it out along with the three band-aids I am wearing thanks to it.

I tried every recommendation I could find on this site...screwdrivers, paint can openers, soaping it up, using penetrating lubricant, turning over the engine a few times, you name it, I tried it. I was about to get out some of the stuff I use when pulling wire through conduit when my temper got the best of me and I decided it could come out in pieces since I had a new one for next year.

wow! I cannot wait to do mine next Spring. Or wait, maybe I'll just pay someone to do it...

When was the last time the impeller was changed?

that's the problem with a used boat. Had no idea about all the maintenance stuff. I performed a 100 hour service on it just to gt everything caught up. It has 658 on it now. I will do another 100 hour at 700.

I did...tried it right after I had changed the oil...temp was at 140

I disconnect the coil,have someone bump the starter,while pulling with 2 needle nose pliers,it falls right out.
