At the grocery store last night, Lynn and I got a German Stollen, white powered sugar coated cake with nuts and raisins. Wow, great with coffee or hot cocoa! Never had it before! It's much like fruit cake that's not on streoids!

Amen Mikey. 2 below from New Belguim is awesome. Anchor's Christmas ale is a delicious beer but not for the average beer drinker. The St Arnold Christmas ale holds a place in my heart as it is brewed right here in TEXAS.

Other holiday favorites: Apple Pie, my fiance's cookies (Oatmeal and Sugar) and then there is the pumpkin bread!

Are you from somewhere around Traverse City? When I think Michigan, I think blueberry.

My favorite food at Christmas is waterchestnuts with bacon wrapped around and then oven roasted in a tangy sweet and sour sauce.

We're in Jenison and you're right, this is blueberry country. My parents used to stay summers at Lake Leelenau which is where we got to know about Plevas.

BTW, impressed with your late season pics from Reeds Lake! I thought the shoreline and launch looked familiar. Have you guys put the boat away yet?

The boat's been winterized but plans are to go back out on Reeds Lake on Christmas day as long as the water isn't frozen over. We only live about 2.5 miles from Reeds Lake so it isn't a big deal to come right home and winterize again. Our ski team will be on Pigeon Lake by Holland, MI on New Years Day.

We had those for the first time last night at a Christmas party. There were none left after about 5 minutes.

My favorite is sausage balls. My mom and sister make them and they are awesome!

I just made these for my wife.

Poured heavy on the vodka w/splach of pomegrante juice. I also put a splash of tonic to replace the sparkling water...took the sweetness out!

1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
2 ounces absolute citrus-infused vodka
1 ounce Cointreau liqueur
1 cup ice
sparkling water, splash (optional)
lemons, a squeeze (optional)
Steps
1Step OneGet out your best martini glass
2Step TwoMake sure the glass has been chilled for the ultimate experience
3Step ThreeShake ingredients in a shaker and put in chilled martini glasses.

I'm going to have to be at one of those events! If nothing else just to see how everyone keeps warm. Send me a PM when you know what time you'll be out, you may have a cheering section.

Homemade chess mix.....

Are you talking about CHEX Party Mix, baked with the Corn, Wheat, Rice CHEX Cereals, pretzels, nuts, etc. margerine, worchester sauce and garlic flavoring?
Lynn used to make about a 5 gal pail of that every year at Xmas and I would eat half of it in 2 weeks, can't do it anymore, so she quit.

Well heel, I figgered it bout tyme to pos dis,

Once again this holiday, I have had requestses for my Tequila Christmas Cake so here goes:
Please keep in your files as I am getting tired of typing this up every year!

1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup water
1 tsp. salt

1 cup brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups dried fruit

Sample the tequila to check quality Take a large bowl, check the tequila
again to be sure it is of the highest quality.

Repeat.

Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.

At this point, it is best to make sure the tequila is sstill OK. Try
another cup just in case.

Turn off the mixerer thingy.

Break 2 legs and add to the bowl and chuck iin the cup of dried fruit.

Pick the fruit up off the floor.

Mix on the turner.

If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver.

Sample the tequila to test for tonsisticity.

Next, sift 2 cups of salt, or something.

Check the tequila.
Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.

Add one table.

Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.

Greash the oven.

Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.

Don't forget to beat off the turner.

Finally, throw the bowl through the window.

Finish the tequila and wipe the counter with the cat.

Cherry Miristmas!
