To keep the UV light from fading our X star when it sits in the lift, I was looking for a boat cover that actually comes down all the way around the sides of the boat that we can connect under the boat. Any one seen a boat cover made for this purpose? I was going to simply buy the material and make one. But I suspect they already exist. Or perhaps adding a skirt to the existing MC cover.
We unfortunately can not add sides to our boat house.
Thanks

I know that you said that you can not add sides to the boat house, but what about roll up "curtians" that would add the UV protection you are looing for. These would be fairly simple to add and make help you get around the no boat house rule on many lakes.

Good thought, but the regulations prevent any siding material including curtains. Plus, when we pull the boat out of the water (some times for a month to clean the hull) I could use the extended cover while the boat sits outside.
I know I saw a generic large cover on a boat in a boat house a few years ago. Maybe the owner simply made the cover.

I bought some Velcro and some sunbrella material off Ebay and am going to have a cover shop add extensions to mine this winter. Just pull the covers off when you trailer.

saw one on ebay last week, i can't find it anymore... there was a buy it now a $450 if i remember. It was a cover with zippered extentions that went down to the trailer. Said he got it at the dealer.

That was my thought as well. Velcro or even the cheap aluminum spring hooks (carabiners) you see for $2 at the hardware store. Sew in some external loops to the MC cover near the edge, and then use the carabiners to attach the side sunbrella extensions via grommets in the extensions. I worry about the velcro losing its hold if it gets dirty over time.
Post a pic of your finished cover if you can.
Where did you order your sunbrella?

The skirts on my Rankin are held on by heavy duty zippers. I imagine a good canvas shop could do something similar.

Definately give Ski Boat Covers a call (www.skiboatcovers.com). I have their full waterline cover for my red metal flake X30 and it works great. Not one part of the metal flake shows when its on.
Here are some pics.
Ask for Mike.

Thanks for all the help. Sorry I missed the other thread. I emailed Ski Boat Covers and Mike promptly responded. It sounds like he has exactly what we will need.
