hi

i have a 2007 x2 salt water series. i am looking to change the propeller to increase the top speed of the boat so it will be fast enough for barefoot waterskiing.

at the moment the boat has the standard factory fitted propeller, if i change it for a propeller which will increase the top speed of boat will this reduce the wake size of boat or affect the perfect pass system in any way

What motor, transmission does your X-2 have, size of current propeller and max RPM that propeller will turn?

hi eric

the details are as follows:

engine: vartec mcx 5.7L multi port efi 350 cid v8

transmission: 1.5:1 marine transmission hydraulically activated helical gear unit

size of propeller: 13.5" x 17"

max rpm of propeller: well the engine max r.p.m is 4800 - 5200rpm

What is the max RPM the 13.7 X 17 will turn on your boat. I ask what the prop actually turns on your boat because the number will tell me if your particular boat and motor combo can take a propeller with some extra pitch. If the number is on the low end of the scale then more pitch will not help much, if any. If the number is on the high end then more pitch may help some, possibly 1-2 MPH.

hi eric

the manual does not show the the propeller rpm but it does show me the transmission ratio propeller rotation when it is in forward gear.

this is 1.67 so i guess this means when the propeller turns once the engine turns 67 times. so 67 / 5200 = 77.61

so the max rpm of propeller is 77.61rpm is this correct???

I think he was looking for real world experience...... in other words what is your max RPM now when you throttle is wide open.

Mine is 5100 RPM real world test with my OJ prop on the X2 with the RTP even though the RTP is recommended to 4500-5000RPM MAX. I rarely go WOT so I am fine with it.

Roonie's is correct. What I would need to know is actual max RPM and max MPH at that RPM from your boat. With that info I can make a suggestion.

i'll try and find this information out, can this be found in the manual or do i ahve to go back to mastercraft??

oh do ye mean drive the boat flat out and see what its top speed is and what rpm it is doing.

Eric is looking for you to drive the boat, hold it wide open throttle and write down the ENGINE RPM and boat speed. (for example 42 mph @ 5,000 RPM's) That will tell him whether you need a higher or lower pitch prop.

Where did you buy the boat? That is not the correct prop that comes standard on that boat. It is susposed to be a 14.25 x 14.50.
