Hi, my situation is I don't have enough coin to buy a 96 onwards Prostar 205, I'm looking for an all rounder with good wakeboard characteristics and the 205 seems to fit but the budget doesn't.
From what I've researched I seem to be thinking the 190 is the same hull just shorter than the 205 is this correct ?
If the 190 is sameish to the 205 (1995 +) when the boat (190) is weighted down the wake should be fairly good.
Anybody shed any light on this.
I have read the posts detailing hull and year changes but all I seem to find is comments that the 96 Prostar 205 was modelled off the 190 hull of 95 ?
Want a cheap wakeboard boat, am I in the right direction ?

welcome simpson!!

What's your budget like?? If you still want a bigger boat, you might want to check out the early 90's Maristars!! We have a 93 maristar 225, and the wake is fair when not weighted, but when it's weighted, it's awesome!! we paid somewhere around 17K for ours, and it's everything we want in a boat and more!!

I'll be watching this thread closely !
Ok great Maristar, good point !
I'm also wanting it around the 20 foot option as I'm going to have to freight it out of the US and it can't be too big.
How good is the Maristar for wakeboarding compared to a 205? got a pic ?
Still after 190 weighed down 1995+ pics or info PLEASE!!!!!

don't have pics of our wake weighted down, but this is unweighted!!
I believe ours is 21 foot, and it's a direct drive, if you go for an 04, you can get the V-Drive!!

this is with 4 people, and half a tank of gas, no ballast!

and I'm not sure what the wake looks like on a 205, but I'm sure someone on here does!!

You could also check out the older 205s. True, they are more slalom friendly, but I'm sure with the right weight distribution, they could throw a good wakeboard wake. Sorry, but I only have pictures of my old boat's wake at 24.x mph and above.

I have had both. I currently have a 205. I strongly reccommend the 205. the extra room with the open bow makes a ton of difference. True it is a basically sllom hull. i am not wakeboarder yet but i am sure it can do a good job even without ballast!!
