View Full Version : Stereo Installation pointers

I’m installing a very modest stereo system in my 2005 PS 197 (not looking for monster bass, etc…) and could use some advice. The boat did not come equipped with an audio system so nothing is in place. It will be a completely ‘from scratch’ install. I’ve installed a few car audio systems and am mechanically-inclined but could use some advice on the electrical side of things. For starters, should I try to track down a wiring harness?

The head unit is a JBL MR-4.2 with four MS 6100 6.5” speakers and wired remote. I would appreciate any advice you can give.

There is going to be a wire under the dash that is stubbed out and labeled stereo/radio. Use that for the power. Everything else is pretty straight forward.

Give me a shout if you need any help with this. I'm going to be in your neck of the woods soon helping my brother install an audio system in his Prostar. :headbang:

My brother and I will be installing a similar system in my Maristar this winter. I picked up the same package with 2 speakers and tracked down another set still in the box for only $29.99. Should be an easy install.

I am not sure what that remote looks like or how big it is, but here is where I would install it.
