Does anybody know if it is safe to wash the carpets of the boat (2007 X2) using soap? Can I put them in the washing machime?
Thank you

Using a mild detergent (aka SOAP) and spraying it with water into the bilge, and emptying the bilge, is a great way to clean your carpet.

That is a heck of a lot of carpet to get in your washing machine. I would say the weight of it alone with water would probably do some serious damage on the internals of your washer.

I took mine out and hung them up and sprayed them down. It worked great. The only difference I noticed was they were not as soft once they dried.

I have always used a pressure washer with good results. It is amazing how much dirt comes out of the carpets when you do this. If youhave an extremely strong pressure washer, make sure you keep the wand far enough away so that it does not damage the carpet.

If they are snap out, take the out and use some laundry soap with a stiff brush and scrub them vigerously, rinse and hang dry. Seems to work well for me. Power washer would get a little deeper too. DO NOT put them in the washing machine it will take the rubber matting off the back of them.

pressure washer works great!!!! carpet is heavy when wet. I think it would damage washer and pressure washer with some soap and a brush would do better anyway!!!

I would use Simple Green (Bio-degradable) and a pressure washer.

I hear you on the simple green. That stuff does wonders... I use it for anything I can.
