Does your teak sit this low in the water? The following pictures are with lifevests in the starboard rear compt, the cover in the port rear compart, no ballast, 3/4 to full tank of full. MC is trying to tell me nothing is wrong. I think it should be out of the water. How does yours sit?

1st pic tied to doc, calm water, noone in boat

I have no pics at this time, but that sits lower than my 04? Just floating mine sits out of the water.

Nice boat, there are some threads on here about fixing what is going on there.

Here's a larger version of my avatar, if that helps. I don't recall ever seeing it as low as yours, even with a bunch of people/gear in the boat. This is an '05, so different hull, but your pictures still seem low. :twocents:

Looks like my '07 and my '06 sat just as low. Full tank of gas and no ballast it's just above the water. Fill the tanks and it's just below the waterline. The Xstar platform sits about 3" higher.

I agree. Here is my '06 X-30. My dog in picture is about 85 pounds.

Here is one with dog in boat. You can see the corner of the teak in the picture.

Thanks guys. looks like that is how it sits. I am going to modify that over the winter to pickup it an inch or two. I am tired of all the scum on the teak from being in the water all the time.

Doug,

I told my dad today what you were gonna do. He came up with an idea that might be easier but im not sure.

Since you can buy pieces of teak wood at say Home Depot you may be able to mount an inch thick (or your preference) piece of teak insert where the bracket rests on the entire swim platform. Then screw that small insert of teak into the entire swim platform and then mount the brackets to that. If you were stll going to do that thing where you were gonna change where the holes were on the actual brackets...this might be an easier option.

Just a thought.

Take it easy.
Lenny

You could also try to put "shims" between the platform and the alum. brackets. Maybe go to a machine shop and have some aluminum spacer plates made up for it, make them the length of the brackets for strength.

Another idea, have a vinyl cover made for your platform with a drawstring to hold it on. This would help cut down on paint fade, and protect it from bird/duck droppings as well. I think someone makes them for different boats already. Try West Marine or Boat US.

I am not going to modify any of the brackets. I am just going to create a "shim" between the teak and the bracket and adjust how it all sits in relation to the body lines and water line.
