I know that this topic has been talked about numerous times before, but here goes again. My Mastercraft manual says that I should use SAE 20w-50 Racing oil, but the Indmar manual says to use Pennzoil Marine 15w-40 oil. What is the general consensus on what oil to use? Thanks for any / more help on this well worn topic.

Any of the 15W40 CI-4/SL diesel oils, like Pennsoil Marine or Rotella-T will be fine, and meet Indmar's oil recommendations.

I have been reading this and another thread about oils. I have a question: This use of diesel oils only applies to the newer models. Which years and engines are people using the HD oils?

I used the Pennzoil 15W40 mentioned above in my 93 Pro Star after calling indmar and asking them specifically about that engine and that year. So I think the answer to your question is yes, the current recommendation applies to your 92 Pro Star even though in 92, they recommended SAE 30.

Right. Indmar currently recommends the CI-4/SL 15W40 diesel-types oils for every engine they've ever made.

I have a '93 PCM 351 and rather than starting a new thread, I figured I would try to get my answer here. What oil should I use? I was looking on mobil 1's site and I saw 0-40, 15-50, high mileage 10-40, and diesel 5-40. Which of these would be the best? Any opinions? Thanks a lot.

Rotella T or Pennzoil Marine (diesel)...15W40, can't go wrong there. Synthetic would be a waste of money.
