Well as luck would have it, my old houseboat needs a new motor:rolleyes: It seems that the splines on the crank, where the drive shaft connects, are gone. Just asking if anyone knows of any good used motors out there, or a place where I might get a decent deal on a new powerplant 60- 150 HP. Preferably a 90 . Thanks for any help you can provide. :wavey:

Darn! I just turned down a 1979 Thundercraft with a running 115hp and trolling motor $500 for the whole shooting match...

The son in law told me it was a mastercraft but he had no clue.. I broke every speed limit between my office and his house.. $500 MC????? Too good to be true

Bob,

Start looking through the BoatTrader for take-offs. I got a 50hp for my old Boston Whaler that was 1 year old for about 40% less than a new one. It had 85 hours on it and turned out to be a great motor. You can go with something brand new (http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/9/85356489.htm) or something a little more used, but still nice (http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/8/9/81869689.htm) or even something a little older (http://adcache.boattraderonline.com/6/7/5/90238475.htm). Do not get scared off by having to ship these things. They do it all the time and to ship my 50hp, it was ~150 from FL to CA.

Good Luck!

Any chance of 'em throw'n the hull in w/ it
He could always use that as his inflatable dinghie.

Thanks Sodar...the Honda looks promising:cool:Hey Mag,

If I where you, I'd call either of the two I suggested.
They'd probably both throw in the hulls jus' because.

And if that doesn't work, go back and hit Footin up for a "new" motor!

Mag,

do you have the outboard controls?
I remember Ilene a motor inside a doghouse....
but as I'm thinking about it, I think it was an outboard under the cover.

either way, you'll need additional controls if you go back with any other outboard than what's already on there..... I think:o

edit, my memory is clouded by all the smoke when you fired her up

Dual purpose and you get a barefoot mastercraft boat
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mastercraft-Barefoot-200-with-150-V-6-Mercury-O-B_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ63686QQihZ007QQitemZ1 70155382144QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW:D

Looks like it sold so the other one would be good as well

Got a second opinion......same as the first......needs a new crank:( Good news is they can get an after market crank for $700 vs $2100 for one from Mercury:rolleyes: Going to get her rebuilt..........new crank, bearings, rings etc.............should be under $3000. Expensive ........yes.........but less than any of the alternatives.
