Is it possible to put a wedge on the 209?

If I went with the x9 (used), can the graphics be changed and at what cost?

Thanks.

Anything is possible, but since I'm pretty sure Malibu reinforces the transom to hold the wedge (maybe someone else or a Malibu dealer can validate), probably not a good idea on a MC unless your a fiberglass guy. If I'm allowed to say it, I do like the wedge though, pull 2 pins and your done. No pumps, bags, switches, wires, etc. Although once it's down, the boat steers like a barge at low speeds.

Don't do it the transom isn't made for it and I think you would loose your hull warranty for what it is worth.

Post pics when you're done...love to see the install.

All graphics can be changed, cost would depend on year model.

I beleive that you can get the Switchblade as an aftermarket drag device. I've seen one on an older MC but I don't have any pictures. This is the same system Centurion uses, I've never ridden in or behind a boat with a Switchblade so I can't comment on its effects.

In theory I like the wedge, in practice I have not found it to be a replacement for ballast. Every Bu I've ridden has produced a better wake with ballast and ballast alone. In fact my buddy just pulled his off because when the wedge was in the up position it was "shaving" the surf wake as it drug through the water.

This is from the switchblade site "The Switch Blade will fit on any INBOARD towboat that has a FLAT surface on the transom that will accept our mount. The mount is approximately 6 " high by 10 " wide. This mount will go directly above the drain plug. If you still question if it will fit, send us a jpeg and we can confirm whether it will work or not."

Thanks for the responses. I use to have a malibu and trying to learn more about the mastercrafts. I'm thinking maybe the x9 would be the way to go and have more options.

Hold still, I'll give ya a wedge ;)

I would not do this to an MC. I would add ballast without question.

If a wedge were that good, MC would have invented it first!
Just sayin'......

Stick with the ballast and play around with the placement as each boat is a little different. I am sure that someone on this board can tell you the optimum locations for the best effect in an X9.

Don't wedge!! It's disrespecting your MC!!! BU's wedge because their hulls sucks, we don't have to wedge cause our hulls are awesome!! Throw some bags in there and you'll see why!!

After installing the folding platform brackets I don't think it would be possible. The hull is probably thick enough and would most likely handle the added stress but finding a way to fasten the bracket would be the challenge. There is no way to through bolt the bracket to the hull and without a reinforcement in the hull itself I would be afraid you could not get a good mechanical bond.

Would it be like in JAWS when the shark jumped on the boat and broke the transom(the rear of the boat) off?

If you were ignorant enough to wedge your MC, I would hope the transom would fall off!! Love your MC, don't convert it!!
