Does any one know of any public slalom courses still in the water??? I am looking to go skiing tomorrow the 6th. The one in Dutch Creek has been pulled, we are willing to travel about an hour or so in any direction or any place on the Fox. Please help.

Normally we leave the Dutch Creek course in until about the 15th, but with some of us done for the season because of injuries and others out of town this month we decided to pull it last weekend. There are no other courses in the Chain. There is a course in St Charles on the Fox but I don't know if its still in or not.

1 of the 2 courses on the Fox in St. Charles was still in as of last Sunday.

Where's a good place to launch on the Fox around St Charles or I think it's Elgin were 90 crosses over?

I think it's called Boy Scout Island or something like that.

Ken, the 90 overpass is the best place to launch, nice and deep for the boat. I believe the launch is in a forest preserve right near by on the west side. But make sure you have someone with you that knows the river because that part of the fox can be bad news if you don't know it...

i would disagree...the "boat launch" is extremly shallow and even outboards must trim all the way up and still dig up mud, there is another launch for "jet skis" but you can usually put in there. I put in at another ramp but i wouldnt recomend it. If you dotn knwo the river then def dont go in elgin

There is a private lake between Rockford and Freeport. It has a slalom course and jump. Sorry no wakeboarders.
The site is great. The water is calm except for a few days when the wind is from the SE and over 20 mph. You don't have to worry about boat traffic so you can ski after 10:00 AM.
