I grew up around those as my family had several of them. They are a pain in the a$$ for maintenance. A labor of love. I remeber before every season putting our hose in the bilge and letting it run for a week to swell the wood so it would float again. Have to re-varnish it every third year or so. A lot of work.

One of the best vacations was renting a two story houseboat with a hottub on Shuswap Lake, and towing my ski boat behind. That was about 8 years ago. We're doing it again next year.

18' open bow I/O "Beachcraft." Softer ride for rough days, but not nearly the pull. Also more seats, more family friendly.

Not a bad wake for 'boarding, I have been told.

I have put in a lot of time helping restore several antique/classic boats with my Dad. I think the happiest I see my dad is when him and my mom are in one of the "woodies" with my family or my sister's family following behind in the ski boat. Always makes for a really fun day on the water.

Here's a picture of a 1953 Century Resorter. It was restored from 2004 - 2005 and sold in 2005. Sorry for the picture. It is a scan from a picture.

Here's a picture of the current project. It is a 1947 Century Sea Maid. Check out the location of the steering wheel.

This picture was taken shortly after my dad picked up the boat in Michigan. My parents sent it out as their holiday card last year. Many of their friends questioned why he would pay money for a boat like that. It should be on the water by the 4th of July.

I'm not sure why the pdf's didn't show up in the posts. Sorry about that.

The woodies are up at my parent's house in Brainerd. The 1947 Century Sea Maid will probably at the boat show the weekend after Labor Day at Maynard's.

Ditto. Had it since '89, still a great boat. Restored all of the interior wood last year. I actually ski'd behind it a few times! Still gets some use as a tender up in the San Juans. After MCs Boston Whalers are my favorite boats.

I was an idiot and sold my 1989 13' Whaler. My granddad bought it for me when I was 5 years old. I kept this up until I bought my MasterCraft in 2003. I went through 3 motors on it and if I had to estimate the hours I put on the whaler, I would estimate it to be in the 5-7,000 hour range...

I miss it :(

Spent late Saturday afternoon cruising in my parent's 1947 Century Sea Maid. Not exactly my second boat, but I enjoy getting out in it whenever possible. This boat always turns a lot of heads. My five year old daughter counted nine people taking pictures of us while cruising the channels of Gull Lake in central Minnesota. Sorry I don't have any pictures of her sitting in the water. We were trying to make sure no Wallys ran into us.

Post 47 of this thread has a picture (in a pdf) of the boat before the restoration. The restoration took over two years to complete. My dad did pretty much all of the work himself. I worked on it with him a little bit mainly with the removal of the old wood and installation of the new wood. A friend of his rebuilt the engine.

This boat actually has one part from Midwest Mastercraft - the t-handled drain plug.

The third picture is the wake at 3400 rpm, probably 32 - 35 mph. Not bad for a 64 year old boat.

My wifes boat from the lake house in NH when she was a kid. Boat sat for ten years until last fall. This is now our winter boat on Long Island to shoot skeet, go seal watching,& to just get out on the water when the bay isn't frozen.

My new winter project: 04' LXi w/ over 2000 hours. Runs like a raped ape but the interior is pretty beat up from heavy club use. Got the boat pretty cheap, hoping to fix it, flip it and make a few bucks.
