Hello all, I am new to Mastercraft, old Centurion man here, I am just deciding on colour scheme's for my new X-2 and looking for input as far as having a dark hull or Deck, say Black. I am looking at doing a black and yellow look or possibly a pro-tour red and black. Would you recommend a white hull vs a Black, or a red or yellow or white deck over black?

Looking for your guys opionion. My Centurion had a white hull and deck and to be honest, it was to Blah, thanks.

I think red and black would work well together, check out Doug G's X30

If your going to be trailering alot id stay away from black on the bottom since it will show scratches easily, I'd also stay with a lighter color on this inside since with a darker color it will get signif hotter.

Blacks show more visible water spots, reds are less prone

Ill have to tell you, i know that you said that white is blah but MC's white is totally different. The only thing I wish mine had was a black bottom so it didnt show all the scum.

Doug G's X-30 is a simply amazing boat. That boat looks good either when your on it or when your standing on the dock and you see it going by.

I also agree with everything that Theoneandonly said...hes a smart man

beautiful X-30.

To give you an example my buddy here in town had a blue with black bottom 07-x2, by the end last month I looked at the bottom of it and noticed alot of scratches etc, of course he beats on his boats. However not being able to see scratches will help appearance wise and for resale since it will be hard to see.

The best way we have found is to go to a mastercraft dealership at this time of year since they have alot of ppls boats in storage, good luck let us know what you decide.

Oneandonly, your very correct when you say that is a bueatiful boat. I cant take credit for it, its not mine. Just am lucky enough that the owner of that boat, his son and I have been friends since 7th grade. Got my dad to go out on the X-30 a few times and then finally got him to buy an MC and the rest is history

I have to echo the black, I had the choice of all black, all red and all white, the white won hands down

Yeah i guess it pays to have good friends. This sounds like one of those stories that my grandpa would tell me....why back in my day we had to walk to school and it was uphill both ways!

Yeah you can never have enough good friends. Thanks for the compliment. It took me a year to convince my dad to even test drive one.

But yeah going back to how lucky I am...I do forget sometimes how lucky i am. Lake front house on Lake Wallenpaupack with a 07 MC. Its the life!

And the funnier thing is theses kids that go to my school...almost all of them are driving BMWs and Audi's. To bad I cant drive the MC to school!

I love that color scheme. Before I bought mine I was going to order a 197 in that color scheme.

Just my opinion and :twocents:

I actually looked at at that boat on the internet along with a 35th (the one that shep bought) both were at the dealership in Charlotte, N.C. This was back in Feb. I called about the 35th but was told it was already sold. Evidently the deal fell through, shep didn't buy it till a few months later. He told me about that one but, I had my mind made up if I didn't buy a 35th I was going to buy a brand new one. But I wouldn't trade mine for anything, well maybe not anything.

Does anyone have a pic of the 2 different red's( Viper and Pro-Tour)?

That may help me decifer between Red vs. Yellow!

I have this color scheme. I love it because it makes my boat feel like a high end sports car. It also gets noticed all the time. I am kicking myself however because they had an X2 in stock when I bought mine that had the same color scheme but instead of white on the rear it was black. I wish I would have gotten that one instead. Here is mine.

Roonie- No you dont. the black shows scratches way more on the transom from boards etc. be happy with the white.

True. The other boat came with a few more options which I find myself adding them on now after the fact like tower speakers and amp, depth gauge, bimini, etc. Also the other boat had a tandem which I realized I actually need one as I did a 3800 mile road trip this summer and plan on doing it again next summer. Better peice of mind to have a tandem then a single on long road trips.

If you want a color get it, but he is right.
I have black on the back and it definitely shows marks.
They will come out.

PendO actually turned me on to this boat. I was looking at buying a new 197, but decided that this was a nicer boat at a better deal. I bought it in February. I never saw the 35th that Shep bought at the time. Must have been because of the timing with it being sold then falling through. Since Shep started looking at his boat, I've told him that if I saw it before buying mine, I'd have bought his instead.;) In all seriousness, it would have been a tough decision, (as you went thru it) but I still would have bought this '05 most likely. But as I've posted many times now, I love the 35th!

I would go onto the MC site and mess around with the colors until you get a scheme you think looks good, keeping in mind that black shows scratches and white shows scum.

Heres what I seem to think works best: Blue on the bottom shows the least scum, and white on the sides doesn't show marks from the dock...

Good Luck...!

If the boat will be in water for any prolonged length of time, get the black bottom. Our X1 sits in the water for a couple weeks at a time and the black is super easy to get the scum off and make look brand new. The white stripe of gel that runs from above the waterline to the bottom on the hull is starting to discolor and shows the scum.
