I'm going to order the parts this week and install a shower to prepare for cold weather skiing.

My question......on a 310HP Predator Engine, where should I tap the hot water from?

From the pics on the site, most people tap it off the block on the port side. However, I recall seeing a picture of heater and shower being tapped with a tee off of the plug that is near the manifold, next to the Thermostat.

Is there an advantage to tapping from one place v. the other? The plug in the port side of the block is a 1/2" and the one up by the T-stat/manifold is a 3/4"? Would one give you better flow over the other?

I tried opening the plug up by the manifold/T-Stat but it is painted shut. How much pressure can I apply in trying to get this plug out of the port. Is there risk of damaging something torquing on this plug.

The warmest water is going to be off of the bottom of the block. I tapped my shower on the port side of the block and it works great. I would reccomend doing it there.

You might want to consider installing a filter right after you tap off the block and the cold water intake. The screens in my mixer get plugged with weeds periodically, and while it is not a huge issue to pull the mixer to clean them, it would be much easier to do it while on the lake if the blockage were near the engine.

Do you Tee from the bottom of the block and run the heater from there, too?

On my 02 197 with the LTR, I used the engine block plug on the port side. Smokin' hot water there.

Now for my question.....Where do you get the hot water from off the MCX? There is a sensor in each of the block drain holes, so I can't use those....

I tapped mine from the passenger side bottom of the block. It took several shots of PB blaster and a line wrench to get the brass fitting off to tap into the hot water... but it works perfectly!

"I installed a H/C Shower in my MC in 04, when it was 5 years old. The kit has a screen/filter on the lines before they go into the pump. When I drew the hot water from the bottom of my block it quickly clogged from rust and other debris in the bottom of the block. So I moved the hot water draw up to the top of the block were my heater draws from. You might run into this issue on your 17 year old block. Good luck with the project, the hot shower is so nice this time of year."

I also put a Strainer on my water intake http://www.skidim.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SHE18016 to clean it up. Friends that have put the water pickup low on the block on older boats have had issues with the filter before the shower valve clogging.

I have the same problem with rust clogging my mixer screen and have since I installed the shower when the boat was 12 months old. My hot water pickup is on the bottom of the engine on the port side. I'm pretty sure that the factory installation point is on the top of the engine maybe for this reason.
