I am getting ahead of myself, I know - I don't even have this boat on the water yet and I am thinking of add-ons and goodies.

But I want to add a rear seat to my 1976 Stars and Stripes. I have been told that they did not come with a rear seat, even as an option, so I'm thinking that I will have to build whatever I decide on.

Or is there a seat I can use here that could be purchased and set in place?

I don't really want to modify the boat, or cut the F'glass at all. The exception would be that I don't mind drilling into the deck for some screws - assuming that the (new) carpet will hide the holes when the seat is out of the boat. Also - I have the F'glass panel that hides the fuel tank, I could take that out and put fasteners in such places that holes would be hidden by the panel when the seat is out and the panel is back in.

Ideas?

Post a picture of the rear of the boat so that we can see what you have to work with.

Do a search on a few key words. There are several threads here from late 2005 and early 2006 on this very topic.

Don't worry about bolting the seat in. It will sit there just fine. They eventually came that way. I currently have an 85 model, same deck curves and the seat came unbloted. I like that as I can take it out (which I leave it out most of the time). I had a 79 that had brackets screwed into the flooring, under a lip. The seat will add a nice look and functionality to the boat, but I prefer to have that space empty. The seat will get walked on more times than not, getting over to the platform.
