I'm looking to go to a ski school for a 3-4 day weekend. I looked at the websites of most of the ones mentioned here. It seems like most of them run their lessons during the week.

What would you suggest for a weekend ski school?

Well, I'm in New England and I don't think there are any up here. I'd be willing to travel south, NC, SC, FL.

I'd personally recommend Bennetts... Located in Zachary, LA... Great site, incredibly nice staff and top notch instruction! Both lakes are fantastic to slalom/trick on! I've been there every March for the last 3 years.. Just a fantastic time! Jay and Anne will really show you a good time! Make sure you eat some crawfish while you are there! And ask them where to get Budan Balls!

Just so you don't think I'm biased i've been to a few places in Florida and they didn't stand up to Bennetts. Namely Lucky Lowe's. I'd recommend Lucky's only if you like skiing in windy conditions and you enjoy being yelled and screamed at...

I recently met a guy who has gone a couples of times at Trophy Lakes in Charleston SC.
Had only good things to said about the place and the coaching.
If you go in the deep part of winter,Florida would be my first choice and there's way too much ski schools to recommand only one.
But for all their installations,Swiss ski school come to my mind...

Also i heard they had a "special" camera setting for New England peoples...:D
j/k

What do you want to do? Slalom, trick, jump, barefoot?

Slalom, would like to learn proper form, if they had barefoot that would be cool. Just learning long line, I don't have a boom. Learning oldschool. This ski school trip is going to be a 40th b-day present. Damn, I get the shakes just typing that number.

lol, wasn't implying that it's old, just can't believe that I'm going to be hitting that number. I mean, where have 40 years of my life gone.

Bennetts was great.

I do not know if they do weekend instruction, but you could check. I've only done during the week.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll have to give Bennett's and Coble's a call.

I'd like to go to ski paradise but I don't think my wife will go for going away for a week to Acapulco.

Awesome, I hope you hook up with one of them in your time frame. 40 isn't bad, but 45...

Booking a ski school is one way to guarantee skiing for a long time. Doing it right is waaay easier on your body. Good luck.

I'm now at 42 and just remember that to half the world 40 is really old and to the other half it's so young. But it is true it takes longer to heal at age 40.

Been to Coble twice for Saturday lessons. They have multiple courses to pair skiers up based on skill level. I brought 40 years of free skiing bad habits and they helped me big time. As my sight gets weaker, maybe looking at the balls shouldn't be a problem. Just can't stop looking at them! :) ... and the water there is soooo clear and warm.

A great many ski school operators are competetive skiers or have children who compete and as you well know tournaments/Pro Tour events are most always on the weekends, worldwide.

Cobles is the way to go! I have been to a couple of schools but after my first trip there I did not want to go anywere else. Its not like some of the other pro run ski schools, April and Chris actually get in the boat and do some of the instructions themselves. I have been there the last three years and plan on going every year, wife permiting. They aslo have some select Sat. and at least 3 lakes with courses, so you can always have good water. Last trip I got to sit in the boat and watch April run all the way to 1 ball at 41 off, it was one of the coolist things I have ever seen!

Here are two places in the Northeast. Both are top sites. George at Pangaea 45 min. west of Albany, or Tom at Daggett Lake 20 min. east of Lake George are both great coaches.
