is it true that the 1994 prostar 190 pro tour is the finest slalom
wake that's ever been made ?

I'm going to add to this answer.....

the '94's were EFI
and I believe they started playing around with it in '93, but ICBW:o

and I don't think the Pro Tour designation had any bearing on that hull design......but again, ICBW:rolleyes:

I am in agreement...I have a '93 so I could be a bit biased here. One complaint I have heard with these years is that at real shortline such as 35off there is a bad spray in the face. This is something I have never experienced:rolleyes:

is your '93 fuel injected or carburated?

She is the carb model

cool

maybe we'll get some smart people in here to back up my claim about "some" 93's being fuel injected.

if it ain't '91, I ain't gotta clue:o

There are some fuel injected '93's out there. I think the first half of the year they were carbs and the second half of the year they went EFI. We didn't have a choice on ours.

The LT1 was introduced in '93. So all of the '93s with the optional LT1 were fuel injected the standard motor was still a Ford 351 carb. In '94 the staandard motor was a TBI 350 which was injected making MC the first to offer fuel injection standard in all boats..

Yes, Brian is correct. MC incorporated EFI standard on all motors starting in 1994. I also have heard that the 94 190 has the finest wake of any MC to date. I can't add from personal experience.

I have a 93 with some not so major mods and I can say it has a great wake and will darn near out run anything in the water to 40. It is quicker now by far and will rip you up quick. AS far as spray I ain't that close to get it but the roost at 22 is there. If you are cuttin' no worries. If you ask a CC or BU guy they will tell you the hull from 91-94 is as good as it gets. :D

from what I hear, the pro tour had some spray pocket mods to help cut back the spray a little...
I love the wake behind my 91. its great.... and the bump isnt bad if you are on edge. most will tell you that the 91-94 hulls had some the best slalom wakes ever...

To add to what has been said here, the 1994 PT 190s had modifications to the spray relief pockets to knock down an extra line length of spray for 38 off skiers. From what I'm told, it appeared as though someone had taken a rat tail file to the rear of the spray relief pocket about an inch forward of where it met the transom, essentially hooking it like they hook the hulls on the 197.

I get so confused.I was told the 1995-1997 was the best wake, they fixed the spray issues and the hull is one of the longest running to date, with 12 world records to its compliment.
think I will start a personal vendetta to ski them all..
Anyone ready to give me a pull??????

Spray and tracking were improved in 95, but the wake is a bit taller. Not by much though.

is there a rooster tail at 22 off on both boats???Do you think there would be any noticable difference at short line lengths,38 and 39.5 off???
thanks????

I have zero roostertail (maybe a small bump) at 34 and 36mph. Slow it down a little and one shows up a bit.

ok Brian maybe I will take you up on that one.....

As an owner of a '93 with an LT1....that model has the softest flattest wake ever. I ski a lot behind a new 197 and the old girl definitely has a better wake, albeit with more spray.

I spent a summer with a brand new '98 190. It was a pretty good boat but the wake was hard. It also had a pretty good rooster tail at about 22 off. This boat did not have the hydrorail fix or the T rudder. The 4 tracking fins on the bottom made the thing track like a freight train though handling in the turns and such was not as nible as the earlier hulls. Overall it was a nice boat that I feel has a somewhat unfair bad reputation. That being said I would much rather a 95-97/Skier/Sportstar hull.

I was not aware that any 98s got away from the factory without the foil on the rudder.

old, I had a 2000 190 and it was a great boat. Too much hooplah about the hull... I think you might find the 98-00 190's to be cheaper just because of all the hooplah though.

I had a 93 190, it was a great boat. I skied through 38 behind it quite a few times. Spray was an issue only if you were doing head wind passes.
Depending on the wind you could start to get spary at -32.
I have a 2005 PS 197 now and love it. I could pull the 93 around, my 197 is like a freight train, my wife likes driving the new boat much better.

It may have had the rudder then but definitely did not have hydrorails.

Hydrorails weren't standard until 1999 and were available as a retrofit for 98s (presumably from 1999 forward).

Unless you're a 38 off an beyond skier, any 91--94 will be great. I pulled someone into 32 off behind my old 205 earlier this year. He said the wake was great and no spray.
