Kd 7000 Vs. Cr7

What is the difference between these two KD's. Looking for a new (used) ski and have had a great experience ewith my redline. I also want to stay KD so my boots will easily swap.

I'm a long time,13 years,fan of Dennis Kidder skis.Went from a Redline to a Kidder FX 7.0 to a KD 7000 and now on a D3 Nomad RC.All of those skis are very user friendly out of the box.
both the CR 7 and KD 7000 are great skis but even if i don't know your budget i would recommend skipping those and looking for D3 product and the X5 is what i would be looking for.All the reviews of the ski are pretty good and they are pretty easy to find used.
I can assure you that you will find the D3 skis easy to ski and very forgiving like your old Redline.
My 2 cents,skip the KD and look for a D3...

Good point. I am looking for something for a little less $$. MY redline is a 68". I think I need to be on a 66". I am 165# and ski at 32, sometime 34. Does 66 sound right to you?

Should be OK at 34 maybe on the short side at 32 but overall OK.

An FYI...the Kidders sold their KD line to someone else. The real Kidder skis are now the D3's...Buyer beware I guess.

I went from the Carbon 4000 to the CR7 titanium. There is a pretty big difference in my mind. From the first time I tried getting up on the CR7, I found that the ski is much more aggressive. It was not nearly as stable as the previous one. Additionally, you can see the difference on the bottom of the ski. The CR7 basically has one concave section with no rivets or lines between either side of the ski (like the 4000). That gives you less stability on the CR7 when ur going straight. However, the cuts are much smoother, consistent, and easier. The ski is very fast! I have the second fin angled down to slow me down around curves. If you are looking to become more advanced... definitely go with the CR7. I am 6'1", 150 and I ski a 66" cuz i need room to grow. I also ski around 32 mph. I hope this helps a little bit.... its my first post on the site. Hopefully we'll soon be a proud owner of the X-45. Researching it is the reason i'm on here but I saw this thread and thought I could help.

There are several generations of both the 7000 and the CR7 so it's hard to directly relate them to one another. I would consider myself a below average skier (I wakeboard) but I've skied both skis outside of the course and was able to ski both but I think a softer flexing ski would have worked better for my level. Given your skiing speeds the 6500 would probobally be better suited to your needs. The 6500 was a softer version of the 7000, it shared the same shape as the 7000 but instead of a fully adjustable fin it came with a fore and aft adjust fin.

FYI there are also two different generations of KD binding plates, you will need to double check that the hole pattern is the same.

I skied a '00 KD7000 CG for three years. Since no one is really answering your question about the difference between the two KDs, it is in the layup - or materials in the ski. The CR7 is a similar to the 7000 but lighter and stiffer with more graphite in it. I had been looking at buying a CR7 in early 2004 and talked to Paul Crawford at D3.(he used to be at KD) He said the D3 Tightline which I ended up getting, would turn a bit quicker and be faster than the CR7. I bought one and have been happy with it. It was the "bottom of the line" D3 at the time. If you want a deal on a D3 there is a 66" Custom X on ski-it-again for $200.

It's not a Nomad or a X5...but then it doesn't cost $800-$1,000 and your bindings will fit fine.
