I was finishing tearing out carpet and was a little suprised when I ripped up the passenger side and saw this. Should I be concerned? It looks like the floor must be a tray of some sort and on the passenger side it has delaminated. Driver side photo is on the bottom for comparison. Any advice?

I wouldn't worry about it, but if it bothers you, it would be easily repaired with a fiberglass repair kit. Looks like all you need it to apply a little resin and then just let it cure. Then proceed with recarpeting. :D

I really could not tell from the pics but I tend to agree with NG8. How long is the delaminated area?

Hard to tell from the pictures, but think I would fix it while the carpet is out. Easier now than pullingthe carpet in a year or 2 if it gets worst.

Water may get trapped in there and then freeze over the winter and lift it more.

I'm with PS82. Repairing it now would give me more peace of mind. Plus.. your carpet will probably glue down better.

Cut out the area that is loose and glass over it. The reason I say to cut it out is so you can look under it for damage. Then your ready for carpet.

George is right! While the carpet is out fix it. You don't want water getting inside the hull.

Hopefully there isnt any water already trapped in there. (http://www.tmcowners.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=942&sort=1&cat=500&page=1) .

Neat graphic. Glad to have it. One question: it references 2 drain plugs, but I've only found one on my 1984 (behind the pylon). Did they used have 2 earlier and then go to one, or do I have a drain plug somewhere I didn't know about?

My 82 has 2. One behind the pylon and one in the transom. (http://www.tmcowners.com/teamtalk/showpost.php?p=7704&postcount=8)

Hmmm. I definitely don't have a transom plug. Wonder why they got rid of it?

Jeff,

Do you have any pictures of the project inprogress? Did you pop the lid?
It would be great to hear how this went and any advice you have to anyone considering it.

Thanks!

What do you mean pop the lid? I'll get some pics, its going very slow, seems like free time for Jeff is next to nonexistent. Next is to sand out the old glue from the carpet and lay new carpet. (First going to attempt to seal up the fiberglass issue. )

think of a coffee can,

rub rail comes off, remove the screws and "pop the lid"
