Has anyone seen some of the new I/O products coming out for 2008. To me it looks like they are trying to break into the watersports world and wakeboarding with some of their newest additions. I refer to this post on a different site. It has pictures as well. This I/O boat is 65k?? If you want to get into wakeboarding at that price you can get into most MC's that are specific to wakeboarding? What do you guys think? Will they steal some market share away from MC or are they catering to a completely different user population?

I know I would buy a V-drive over this anytime. I like the prop to be under the boat and I really like to wakesurf.

Crownline has a Air 230 Fugley with an oval logo. I/O's with towers should be against the law

My guess is a large number of the direct drive community thought putting extended pylons and wake towers on a tournament ski boat was crazy and should be outlawed. Now you can't swing a dead cat around a boat showroom without hitting one.

Some people just don't like the way inboards handle at slow speeds and in rough water, so it doesn't take a market research team to come up with some type of cross over boat. Will it be a MC, no, but it will let many happy families spend time together and enjoy something other than video games and MySpace.com. I have seen the Caravelle in person and it looks like a pretty solid boat with some nice features.

65K for that boat? No thanks. I'll take a MC any day over that boat.

Looks like a really fat X-star...

I dunno, I think the market is there. It seems that wakeboarding has brought an awesome growth to the trailer boating industry, but it also has brought some negatives. Unfortunately, our waterways are now flooded with anybody with a decent credit score. This is just a boat for someone with $65k sitting around that does not know what they are doing. I will say that Chapparal does make a quality I/O, but I think they should stay in the I/0/Crusier/Runabout market, even though you cannot blame them for wanting to move into the ever expanding watersports market...

Ya know though.... I used to think the Sea-Doo and Yamaha jets were retarded also, but there is a market. Here in SoCal, we boat on the Colorado River and some parts are very shallow and only jets run there. These boats have filled the market spot quite well and I would personally see these out there rather than some redneck in a $3500 jet boat... just my opinion

No, I do not think you have any idea the people we are talking about here. Some look like this: http://www.airbergy.com/Copy%20of%202005%208%20Sage,%20UOP,%20White%20Tras h%20073.jpg

A few weeks ago, it was me, my gf, my mom and my dad just floating down the river. We go by this POS jet boat with trailer trash like no other, only to notice this couple "getting it on" on the bow of this thing. It was like 12 o'clock and they were camped out in the MIDDLE of the river! Pretty Gross!

"As a dealer sells and has sold nearly every top brand of wakeboard boats, I speak with some degree of expertise.
I am truly amped about the new Xtreme series Chaparral's."

I thought this was kind of funny. Truly amped, eh? First boat I have seen that was set up for wake boarding and had a cuddy.

Just trying to keep the customer happy.

The cruiser owner that wants to pull his kid around on a wakeboard and will not give up his cruiser..

Brilliant!

It is the price that gets me. A brand new 07 21' Chaparral is around 35k with options. This boat is 65k because it is associated with wakeboarding? tower, speakers, lights, ballast and graphics justify that price?? I just think they are a little confused. I could see its place if it was more reasonably priced like around 35k but even then your competing with Moomba. You get into 65k and now your competing with all the major brands.

The bench seat on the back of that thing is going to be a problem with a I/O prop 3-4 feet from it. It has accident written all over it. I would ski behind anything that isn't an inboard.

(Can't believe I'm saying this) I'd rather have a Moomba than that

Its just a price point cruiser!! http://www.boatquest.com/Power/Chaparral/Cruiser/Length/Feet/USD/1/boat_search.aspx

Not over priced at all. And again I say, brilliant!! No, Wicked Brilliant!! I donít want one. But still, brilliant!

I think the difference is that may be a true 24' in the adds but really this is a 21' boat or less as they count the swim platform on this as size since it is non-removable.

The sad thing is. When it does happen who's name is going to get drug through the mud right along with it??? The media generally has no idea..
