I had planned to go to the lake for one last cruise, but no dice. I had work to do. I pulled the boat into the driveway and whipped up a variation of "Britt's Boat Scrub," a little concoction I cut 'n' pasted off this site years ago ("Thanks Britt"). I scrubbed the boat tip to stern and toweled it dry. This stuff is good as it looked wet even dry.

I hooked up the hose to the bucket and turned her over. Just a touch of the key was enough. I ran about 15 gallons before shutting her down and reconnecting the hose. I'm going to miss the sound of this engine.

Backed her into the garage and got busy with the carnuba wax. A little elbow grease, but she cleans up good. Got the seats just like I like them.

The car is loaded and I head out tomorrow morning. Watch it rain!

But I couldn't not take just a few more pictures before putting her to bed one last time.

Have a good weekend.

what is your recipe for your variation on "Britt's Boat scrub"?

I purchased a 1993 PS190 2 yeas ago and the previous owner had it shining just like yours.

The new owner will appreciate their clean new to them boat

Greetings from Memphis. Beau left a little out of my Texarkana detour. I had a nice bit of tread separation on I-30. My tire (3 yr. old GY marathon) looked like something the dog chewed, but otherwise, all was okay. Couldn't get the floor jack under the axle, so i jacked up the frame and got the truck jack under the axle. Back on the road and I owe Beau a beer for finding me a Good Year dealer in Texarkana. Nicest people ever. Two new GY marathons on the trailer and rolled all the way to Memphis without incident.

Side note. Dealer told me that they changed the layup of the marathon last year because they were having lots of tread separation incidents. My other one was close and no reason it should've been.

So had dinner at Corkey's BBQ tonight. Like the dry rub ribs. Then lots of beer near the hotel with an old buddy of mine. Off to meet the buyer tomorrow afternoon.

Britt's boat scrub is on my computer at work. But roughly, it is Borax, carnuba wax concentrate, polishing compound, and water. My variation was armour all car wash concentrate, carnuba wax, polishing compound, white vinegar, and water. I'll get the official recipe when I get home and post it.

Have a great weekend.

Port ... or at least this time I was.

Ric, and everyone else, if your GY Marathons are more than one year old, keep a close eye on them. According to the guy who owned this GY dealership, they changed the layup about a year ago because they were seeing a lot of premature separation. My tires were only three years old and had probably no more than 5,000 miles on them (that's a generous estimate). No reason they should have come apart. But he looked at the other tire and suggested I keep the passenger tire as a spare instead of the three year old Marathon. He also said that GY is pushing larger tires for trailers, whatever we can derive from that.

The next boat. Closed bow and red. If there are any further details I can share here, I will do so. However, given the rules of the site, with which I am intimately familiar, if I end up with anything other than a MC, I will, as required by the rules, not discuss it here. I think that MC makes great slalom boats, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. No matter what my next boat is, I will always have a connection to MC through my father in law's boat a/k/a my boat-in-law. He'll have that thing forever and by that token, I look forward to continuing to enjoy reading and posting on this forum.

Okay, since several of you asked, here it is. I searched his posts and could not find it, but this is the recipe for Britt's so-called boat scrub. I've not used this exact formula, so I can't vouch for it. But it must have had a picture accompanying it that looked pretty darned great because I felt compelled to save it.

Britt’s Boat Scrub
1 gallon of water
10 tablespoons of borax
8 oz Carnuba Wax concentrate
2 oz. Meguirs Medium Cut Gelcoat Rubbing Compound

Directions. "Shake well. Scrub the snot out the boat. Will look wet for over two seasons in the sun."

No worries. By the way, that's not the same MarkP. He swears to me it isn't. 8p

Two questions:

1) Isn't Borax pretty abrasive?

2) What is Carnuba Wax Concentrate?

1. Probably, which is why I used a car wash concentrate.

2. No idea. I just poured a shot of liquid carnuba wax in a bucket.

Britt's last post on here was some time in February, so I'm sure he's around from time to time.

For what it's worth, my variation on this again.

Doug's Boat Scrub
1. Some armour all car wash concentrate
2. A shot of liquid carnuba wax
3. A spoonful of polishing compound.
4. A shot of white vinegar
5. And water from a pressure washer to mix with it and to dissolve everything.

Not very scientific, but I scrubbed the snot out of it, then applied a coat of carnuba over it. I think it's as shiny as my boat ever looked (IMO).

Or you can keep it in Digital Pro, go KPH, and get rid of all my memory settings and add your own easier.

First I have to TAKE some pictures (this weekend I promise, unless it's raining or something like it was almost the WHOLE way home. Amazing how little the inside got dirty)

Yes Doug's boat ended up in CANADA!!!!! And I must say I Love it, as does my 4 year old (in Dec.) daughter, I can't get her out of the bow.

I know there is a picture posting thread on here so next week I will attempt to put a few on.

Thanks also to "bcampbe" for the trailer tires, no trouble all the way back.

Cheers.

NOT ltg:D
Congratulations on the boat purchase, I enjoyed the "Guess Who" game while it lasted! I wonder how many still don't know it was you?

Thanks Doug,

I'm still an MPH guy, (metric came my way about halfway through school so I still think MPH and measure in inches and feet although KPH is easier 'cus it's on all the HWY's).

Get it??

See, on this forum, I thought shampoo was only used when someone was talking about something with which he lacked any first hand knowledge.

Example: "Anyone who is talking about the wake behind this boat that hasn't skied behind this boat can shampoo my crotch."

So I, too, am confused.

Sure is pretty. 33K is a bit pricey for an 04 though. Of course, it's not like half of those options can be figured into book value. Plus, 190s are pretty rare, so maybe that's the reason for it being so far over. Again, sure is pretty.

Brian, did you ever put MTS on your 95?

No. The cost of the whole thing was just going to be to much money. The bling would have been cool though. I have been going without although I am looking into some emty bags from the company that sells the bags of lead. Four 40lb bags of tire weight lead (160lbs total) is only going to set me back about $40. The MTS when all was said and done was going to be at least $400

Why? Want to buy a super clean '97? Its Red too. For the right price I'll deliver. Heated driver seat for your wife.

i just used some weights from an old bench set a i had. 40lbs is not enough for the 01 though. i had about 60 and could have used more.

I set out to make bricks one day. Put too much in the pan and it was too heavy for my little girl arms to lift. Spilled some in the dirt and spent the rest of the afternoon on biocleanup detail.

I don't think you need as much weight if you put it toward the rear a little. Of course, nobody likes the idea of putting weight in the rear for slalom.

Nobody is blaming you.

Amazing thing- he was first treated for throat cancer about 14 years ago and had to do a lot of therapy to be able to speak/sing. Since then, he put out 3 albums- all of them are Grammy Award winners.

I cannot believe that I just read this whole thread either. Boats are great.

Are you still sticking with this recipe, even after a few more years of experience with it under your belt? I have been using Boat Bling hot sauce, and it works wonders, but would like something a bit less expensive.

Doug's Boat Scrub
1. Some armour all car wash concentrate
2. A shot of liquid carnuba wax
3. A spoonful of polishing compound.
4. A shot of white vinegar
5. And water from a pressure washer to mix with it and to dissolve everything.

Not very scientific, but I scrubbed the snot out of it, then applied a coat of carnuba over it. I think it's as shiny as my boat ever looked (IMO).

The only time I ever used it was the last day I had the boat. That's Brit's Boat Scrub. I just borrowed the recipe. On my new to me boat, I had it professionally detailed to get rid of some slight fade and have just washed and waxed it since then. Might be time for a scrub.
