Gosh this is just terrible. Two very young boys in my area die after wakeboarding. They are now saying not go in the water when the H2O temp. approaches 80 deg., but heck, that is like half the year here in FL.

Is this keeping you guys out of the water down here? My kids have not been in since the first boy died a couple of weeks ago.

...And what is so sad is the fact that he contracted the illness while taking wakeboarding lessons at Orlando Watersports Complex (see article)

Our Water temps are above 80 most of the boating season, and that is in Kentucky! Nose clips for all Mag Mania addendees

I was in Daytona a month ago and I couldn't go skiing with my cousin because of the same thing. I was down there for a couple of days at the beginning of a road trip and they closed 5 lakes while I was there.

At OWC...I hate the fact that in someway this is related to that park. The lake that is used is not a Natural lake. Man Made and used as retention. All of our lakes in Florida are above 82 deg from May-Oct. This is BAD PR for Florida. I talked with the relatives a couple of weeks ago after Thomas' death. The first family that lost there son to the ameoba. I hate this stuff...I feel so bad for that family. JESUS FREAK please add them to the prayer list PLEASE.

Norris in TN has been around 84° F all summer. I would imagine something else is going on with the water in FL besides the water temp.
