Broke the alternator belt the other day. We were going back to the dock and the voltage gauge was pegged. The boat wouldn't go above 3000 RPM without running rough (like the motor was missing a little). I replaced the belt and charged the battery and now the voltage gauge reads around 10 volts while running. And it still won't run above 3600 RPM (or above 3000 without "missing").

It's a 1990 PS-190 454 H.O. w/velvet drive. I checked the battery with a voltmeter and it reads 12+ volts. Haven't yet had a chance to check it with the motor/alternator running. Does anyone know what the problem could be? It was only a broken v-belt! I've searched the boards but haven't been able to find an answer to this problem. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. :( Thanks
