Sounds like that guy has been through some rough times. Good for him for winning. Hope he can swing the taxes.

Don't forget though, gotta pay taxes on the cash, too. That home was valued at upwards of $1.3 M. I know I'd have sold it and bought something smaller.

Not even sure if I feel that bad for the guy.......just becuase he couldn't lay carpet doesn't mean he couldn't work since 1999. Crazy world

Don't have much (read any) experience with this amount of money, but couldn't he sell the house and apply that money towards a new (less expensive home) and only pay taxes on the difference? Though still quite a bit of money, it wouldn't be as bad. Either way he will come out ahead in the end.

Sorry, that should have read that I have no experience at all with that amount of money! Yet... :D
I may be a lillte backwards though. I guess he would have to take ownership of the house, pay taxes, then sell it. Not something I will have to worry about any time soon ;)
