I'd like to know what people's opinions are for the best prop for my '07 X2 with MCX. The boat has a OJ XMP 13.7 x 17 on it right now and I'm running factory ballast. Some other threads have mentioned the XMP edge 14.25 x 14 as the best one. Anyone have experience with how the 14.25 would affect surf wake, hole shot, top speed, or anything else... Thanks!:D

No really, this WAS the OJ XMP Edge. I have the ACME 1285 also (which is a similar prop) and I honestly like the Edge a little better. Not quite as much hole shot, but a smoother pull and a few extra mph on the top end.

I'm pretty sure OJ is putting the XMP Edge 14.25x14.5 on that boat right now and the 14.25x14 on the Xstar. Call Eric at OJ to be sure, but I think the 14.25x14.5 will give you what you are looking for with the least amount of rpm increase.

Yes they are putting the XMP Edge 14.25 x 14.5 on all new X2's now as standard equipment. I have it and it is an awesome prop. It was designed for the holeshot for wakeboarding, and surfing. I get 46-47 WOT at 5100 RPM. It also comes out of the hole like a screaming banshee. I highly recommend it.

I have them both, the acme has a better hole shot. Both good props, but I like the Acme the best, a mile or two less on the top end. But I think 42 mph is as fast as I need to go. The acme will rip your arms out on a start up with a lot or weight in the boat.

Cool, thanks everyone for the comments. I talked to my dealer today and they have one that I'm going to try out this weekend. Not sure why I got the 13.7 on my X2 vs the 14.25.

djhuff, I think it looks a little out of balance. Would you take 25% off??? Sorry couldn't resist.

The 14.25 X 14.5 LC XMP EDGE is standard on the X-2 with an MCX motor. For more low end you can try the 14.25 X 14 LC XMP EDGE, this propeller will be stronger out of the hole with less top end.

Would the XMP Edge 14.25 x 14.5 work for a 2006 X2 (MCX) as well?

what is the range on the cost for this prop?

Talked to my dealer on Saturday. He said the cost is about $500.

They didn't know why my boat came with the 13.7x17, but they are going to swap it for the 14.25x14.5. Thats the right answer in my opinion since that is the standard prop for the X2. Pretty happy with MC and my dealer's ( Portland Ski Boat Center ) customer service so far.

How will this prop perform with the RTP engine as I now have one of those 3 blade prop's like DJ.:o

my 06 x1 came with the 13.7x17 (rtp) and I upgraded to the 14.25x14.5 (07 and 08 factory) and was very happy. I didn't loose that much top end and got a great boost coming out of the hole while loaded down. My 08 x2 has the mcx and came stock with the 14.25x14.5 and it performs well.

You may want to confirm with OJ or MC, but I think they run the same prop on the rtp and mcx enginesfor the x1 and x2 (14.25x14.5 in 07 and 08). I think OJ came out with another size recently that may or may not be the factory option now.

My 08 X2 with the MCX came with an OJ 14.75 X 15.5 however the MC dealer and Bill from ACME Marine recommended an ACME 14.50 X 16.00 VL4B - .136 Cup ( ACME 1593). I didnt like how the stock prop ran the engine at a higher rpm than I thought it should. The 1593 is supposed to drop the rpm by 300 and should give 3-4 mph at top speed. I havent tried it yet but that sounds more like the range it should be in. They also said the 1593 might lose some bottom end power but it is not really noticeable on the smaller boat. I would like to hear if you get different advice..

I've been running the OJ XMP 14.25 x 14.5 since last spring and I'm pretty satisfied with it. I didn't really lose any top end speed. It is still right around 45 at WOT, although I rarely run WOT. Hole shot is MUCH improved, night and day difference.

That's funny - I have that same prop!
