i am looking to buy a boat dolly or maybe a forklift to move my boat in to the garage. the way that my property is layed out and the placement of my garage makes it difficult to impossible to put my boat in the garage. does anyone else use on of these electric dollies? i found one by powercastor but it cost aebout 1000.00 . would like to find a used one or a cheaper solution. any suggestions.

Rod,
I have a forklift (old dual-fuel Cat) which works well in tight spaces but I think you may want to look at the manually operated pallet jacks - similar to the picture of the boat dolly. The last pallet jack I bought was around $250 but for a little more money I believe an all-terrain version was available.

Looks like you guys already took care of the necessary information. As my previous post indicates, I do indeed use one of the "Powermovers". I couldn't get along without it. I looked at the "Powercaster" and another unit. Neither allowed me to drop the tongue of the trailer so I could get the boat w/tower folded into the garage. If you want a used one give Brady at Powermovers a call and ask that he contact you when he gets one in. I believe people trade them in on bigger units as they need them. I bought the three wheeler with a 1/2 horse power motor in case I ever needed to move REALLY big.

just bought one , same as yours . should get here in two days. normally i put my boat in once at the end of october and i just pulled it out this weekend . it takes me about an hour of going back and forth and i have to borrow a small suv that can manuever around the garage. this should make my life easier and now i can put it in whenever i feel like it.
thanks for the help. by the way i just got my bimini top from mastercraft, only took them 6 months. i bought my boat in september . could have raised sheep, spun fabric and sewed one myself by now.

Congratulations rodltg2, you are going to love the dolly. It has made garaging my boat possible. I have tape marks in my garage to position the boat (not alot of room to play with). I can hit them first time every time with the dolly. It helps that the dolly is slow (3 seconds per foot), but I'm not sure I would want to go any faster.

Glad to hear you can still handle your rig. I'm happy to let the powered dolly do the work for me.

used my electric boat dolly yesterday to move my boat out of the elements ( hail and rain forecast ) and it worked great! i recommend this dolly to anyone who has to move there boat around in tight areas. took me 1/2 hour total the first time including uncovering boat, taking down tower, removing back deck, folding tounge , hooking up dolly, reversing out of the car port and making 2 90 deg. turns into the garage. i will probably be able to get this down to 15min with more practice. plus i am able to do this by myself.

Rod, glad to hear your dolly was a success. You had me a little concerned about using it on dirt, but it sounds like it must be OK. Whenever mine loses traction I just put a little weight over the wheels (I stand on it). :steering: I'm sure it looks funny (you know you're a red neck if ...), but it works.

There are a number of threads that have electric dollies mentioned. Most of those that are most applicable are older posts, such as these. Bumping for updates...
Moving a 205 up a minor (1%) grade, through a tight turn, and into a very tight space. I cannot just use a golf cart, SUV, or hydraulic wheel jacks.
1) Recommendations for AC, DC, or gasoline dollies?
2) Anyone selling one?

Yesterday I was able to borrow a friend's Powermoverinc.net AC4 for moving my PS205 around. It worked well FWIW.
