New skier. This is my 5 yr old son behind the boat for the first time. This is what I was doing instead of Footstock this weekend. Hopefully in a few years he will be skiing in it with me!

That is the way we started with JD. Just eased him off the plateform! Way to go! That was way better than footstock!

That's what I thought too. Footstock is always a good time but it does take away a whole weekend that I could be spending with the family. Not many of them left this year.

Jay,
Awesome!!!! Now we've gotta start fitting in a couple family outings on the fox once in a while. Madi is skiing next to me on a handle section on the boom...I'll have to find pics. Lauren is working up the courage to try anything beyond standing on my skis on the boom....seeing others behind the boat would help her along. Very cool!!!

That is awesome! We hoped to get our little one up on skis this summer but she is not ready (16 months). But the skis are ready for her.
What lake were you on?

Very cool! What better way to learn than behind a MC!

He want to go again this weekend and I am thinking of having Emelia (2 yr old) try too. She wanted to last weekend but mom was not so sure. I think she might let me put her back there now:D

I was just thinking. Our lake has "No Wake" after 4:00. Since I am pulling them at only 7 or 8 MPH do you think I could do this during the no wake time? Some other boats go around that fast, just because we have a skier should not make us illegal.  :D

Does riding on the platform like that run the same risks as "teak surfing"? What about for the young skiers at a very short line length? I was debating whether to get a boom for my little guy to learn on before he can ski on the long line.

Teak surfing, as I understand it, is holding on to the platform as the boat is moving. In that position your face is directly behind the exhaust, and at close range. Sitting on the platform, I have fresh air hitting me from the boat moving and the same with Collin, standing up 7' back. I don't think this would be unsafe, but I wouldn't want my legs there with and IO;)

JB, now that is good stuff right there. I would take that over footstock anyday. Keep him going!! ;) Can't wait to do the same with my kids.

I've been waiting all week for a friend of mine to send me pics of my 5 yr old skiing last weekend so that I can attach them here also. It's such a great feeling to see them doing it and beginning the love affair/obsession that we all have.

Here is an update. Collin got alot of time behind the boat this weekend and was loving it. This is him flexing his muscles for the crowd;)

Then his 2 yr old sister put on a life jacket and kept saying "me next..me next". So I got her on the ski on the beach and pulled her out and then the look on her face was "what the heck did I sign up for" After about 50 yards, I knew she was not getting used to it yet and I didn't want to scare her too much the 1st time out, so I slid off the platform and grabbed her. Once she had her arms around my neck she finally smiled and said "I ski...I ski!"
Good thing our 1 year old was sleeping or she may have been next. Not sure if Mommy would have liked that.:D
