What is going to be any advantage or disadvantage to buying a 2002 or 2003 19 skier verses an EVO,for skiing???That is all the boat will be used for, shortline skiing, will there be more spray with the 19??will there be a noticable differance in the wake,I realize the 19 will be a smaller boat but how about the skiing,is the quality there at a bargain price or bite the bullet for a 190????
thanks in advance........

The 19skier is based off the 1995-1997 ProStar 190 hull.

I thought very highly of the wake on my 1995 190. No spray issues and the wake at 34 and 36 was REALLY good.

Also, the EVO hulls have the rear storage locker that the 19skiers lack.

were the 1995-1997 prostars considered one of the great hulls??never skied one ??what is the basic consensis??Guess if they brought it back someone must have liked that hull??

The 95-97 hull was a very well accepted hull.

Yes it was a good hull. The wake wasn't as good as the 92-94 hulls but the spray issues noted in that hull isn't an issue on the 95-97 hull. If your shortline skiing you'll like the lack of spray. Either one I think you'd like (EVO or Skier 19) they both make great slalom boats.

If you could find a 1994 ProTour 190, that would be the best boat for you. ETS says it has a spray modification for shorter line lengths. But it would be my guess that the 95+ hulls will track better.

What do you consider SHORTLINE 15 OFF or 35 OFF.

That will determine some of your decision.

"Quality there at a BARGAIN PRICE"....MasterCraft Quality has nevered suffered because of price !!!

I think I read somewhere that the 19 Skier hull was the longest running hull in MC history (I could be wrong) as it ran from 1995-2003 in various names.

I have owned a 1999 Sportstar closed bow, a 1995 Prostar 190 (same hull as the 19 Skier), and now a 2001 Prostar 190 EVO. The EVO feels like a much bigger boat, and the rear storage compartment is really handy for skis, ropes, etc. The older hull felt a lot more nimble, but I think that is just the size difference between the two. The EVO hull also handles the chop much better than the 1995/99 did. If I had to make that choice I would go with the EVO.

Unfortunately I can not comment on the "shortline" performance:rolleyes: :D

I was told today that the 95-97 hull set seven world ski records. Its a great boat to ski behind. I would save the money and buy the 19 skier.

I can't imagine that spray would be an issue. Our ski club president runs into 38 off and has the 98 Sportstar/19 Skier with the 5.0L. Anything after that would have the 310 hp predator as the base engine or better (I've seen one 98 Sportstar with the LT1).

Great boat all around.

I don't think any ski boat will have a wake at 39.5 off, will it? Aren't you pretty much just in the prop wash there? (don't know, never been there  )

Uh nope, more like trough or lack thereof.

I am looking at a few right now w/ the LT1, and one w/ the 275 hp that has the slot. Think if I do it I want just a little more giddyup. (not that the 275 is lacking when coupled w/ the Acme 541)

Disclaimer: if a smoking deal on this series boat falls in my lap w/o either mentioned above, expect me to jump on it. ;)

I wanted the TBI and the slot but they are few and far between. I think the wake on the 1:1 is better anyway. Even on my short setup with the 541 I am locked at 36mph before the pregates. LT-1 just doesn't turn me on. My ski partner has one in his 205 but it is finiky. Maybe its just his but I didn't want to take a chance. My TBI has been right on the money since day one.
You 're quitting skiing ?;)
Or looking for something with a tower?:D Always looking for a deal on a 2005 TT or possibly a 2007TT boat without a tower, Like Jeff if the right deal falls in my lap on one of those boats expect me to jump on it.
